WOW! Completely new time for me again... Got 1:01 with 12% (and as bloody usual I can't prove it to anyone... meh!) beating my old time with around 5 minutes.

Sidenote: Tried to actually take a picture of my gba today with a 4.0 Mega Pixel DG Camera I borrowed from school. Couldn't see **** in any of the pics 'cause the damn thing wouldn't focus :) Back to square 1.

Sidenote 2: I'm also getting ZM nest Friday (on the release day and on my holiday) if anyone cares.

Bah. My scores (on my own):

1:44 @ 100%
1:18 @ 38%
1:15 @ 1%

Then I saw this place. Crap, dude! I had no idea there was such a thing as a wall jump! BTW, The 38% & 1% included the secret message. How much time is that and back? I should just subtract....
Awesome, I played through the entire game last night without saving, and I ended up getting a pretty damn good time: 1:07, with 27%. I made a ton of mistakes, too. I didn't think i'd be able to get such a good time, considering the general sloppiness of the run. Some bosses/areas took much longer than I wanted them to, Yakuza and Arc in particular. About a full minute was wasted when I forgot to get the Ice Missiles immediately after unlocking the Yellow Doors, and went to the nav room under the assumption that I already got that upgrade. :?

I wasted a lot of time picking up out of the way Missiles and Energy Tanks (as you can tell by my percentage), though it did make it so I didn't have to worry about boss damage or running out of missiles. I might try another one soon, with less Missile/Energy Tank pickups.
s.enhasa, your experience is consistent with what i have seen:

- half-ass a run and get a decent time
- work your ass off and get a barely better time.
I've seen that too. I hate it very much.
there's always super metroid.
I'm kinda like this:

half-ass a run for a crappy time
full-ass a run and get a slightly less crappy time

If I tried I might actually be able to get under 2 hours!

Yeah, I'm gonna try that. I'm currently working on recreating Sess's 1% Technical Demo, and hopefully his is under an hour (my goal). I'd only be a few minutes off, even though it would be near the same in looks.  Rolling Eyes

What time does he have ATM? Around the vicinity of 40 or something right? Heard he got to Yakuza @ 31 minutes... Now that's fast for you!

A little bit...I'll probably be at Yakuza in about 45 minutes.  8)
I just finished another run (yet again)  and this time i only saved twice to see how much of a difference it made. I don't know how I did it but I got 1:00. It doesnt make any sense because I did HORIBBLE! I messed up on a ton of tricks and made even more mistakes(missed jumps, went in the wrong direction, ect.) I think i might do another run like this pretty soon, but I need some way to proove it! I tried to take a picture but I had the same problem that alec did  Evil or Very Mad. Is the only way to prove it to record it on the GBP?  Since you don't except emulated runs i can't think of any other way to prove it. The problem is that I don't have fifty bucks to go and buy one, actually I owe someone money! If there is any other way to prove it please tell me.
Another thing: Does anyone know when nate is going to post Wussup Dawgs run? I am really looking forward to it and i bet there are abunch of speed tricks in it that I don't know about :)
I sent him pretty much all of my 100% run. Just a little more to go.

When I get done, I'm going to make it one big zip file. I'll need to redo segments 14 and 15 though because I accidently recorded over them.
That stinks (That you recorded over them) but when you record them again they will probably be even better so don't get discouraged! :)
Doing another any% run. I'm just experimenting though so the time probably won't be very good. Right now, I'm at the ship with 34 minutes on the clock. I have only save 3 times too.

Man, I hope that emulator comes through for me soon! I already perfected the art of Sess's segment 1 & 2 (but saving in SRX), and almost 3! Just a few stupid mistakes like misjudging the pirates jumpiiness on the last vertical corridor, or forgetting about the armadillo guy just before. The keyboard makes it a lot easier, right? I'm afraid I'm too used to the SP controls. Ah well.
Why must I always be 2-5 min. off from the cutoff! NOOOOOO! I finished my half-ass "speed run", and got a time of 2:02! So close to my sub-2 hour goal! Crying or Very sad Oh well, I'll just do better this next time. Does anyone have any suggestions on whether I should do another pure speed run, or a 100% run? Also, if I'm doing a sub-2 hour speed run, could anyone post times for what I should have if I was aiming for a time of 1:59 at game's end? Thanks. Oh, btw, my speed run percentage was 27%. I suck so I grabbed a few extra energy tanks that were out of the way.

Hmm...All I remember about the 100% run is that you should definitely have a 100% save just before SA-X at 1:55 or lower. Also, try to find all the items that are on the way to your next goal. Also, do better on bosses. They make a world of difference. You have plenty of missiles. Use them. Power bombs, too. You hardly ever need them. Use them when you need to bomb a lot of roots, like after Yakuza, just before the SA-X run. Oh, and use charged wave beam on Ridley-X. It's MUCH faster. I guess that's all I have to say. Good luck.
It usually takes about 3 minutes for me from the last save to beat the final bosses & return to my ship. So a 3 minute margin is enough.
Just keep trying to play the game, and soon enough you'll know exactly where to go and how to get there with the least amount of detours, and that will allow you to go sub-2 hours.
I played through the ENTIRE game yesterday.....TWICE!  On the first run I got 1:00 like I posted earlier. In that run I only saved three times. In the middle of TRO, Right before Serris, and right before SA-X. In the second run I didn't save at all, except for at the ship when the power goes off. I had horrible boss fights, almost all of them sucked, especaily Serris. I didn't get the 2-hit kill and I even fell into the water :x. My Time was 1:02. I think I've had enough fusion for now....but who knows when I'll get the urge to beat it again. I'm getting MZM for my B-Day(Hopefully). In my next fusion run I think I'll only save right before Serris, at the ship, after nightmare(in AQA) and Right before the SA-X.

5 seconds that's outstanding. I am also working on another speed run i'm at 45 mins after getting the missile download.

I hope you are joking. o_O

oh sorry my bad. I finished another run with 1:20 and 12%
Ok, I think I'm gonna try a 100% speed run following either Wassup Dawgs' guide on GF, or I'll try one of the normal ones that isn't for speed, but just getting 100%. Cause from what I've seen of Wassup Dawgs' guide, it's very, very hard...ooh the wall jumps...
When playing on a GBA, does the timer start as soon as you load a game (does it start during the music?) or does it start when you first get to control Samus? 'Cause simply saving a game can't take that long. Just a few seconds since I suppose the timer stops when all the text shows up?! Right?

I wish I knew the answer to that.

Guess what Nate.  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o

Any% 52 minutes. I saved only 4 times during this run (not including the save right after the intro). I'm going over to my friend's house tomorrow, (maybe) so I'll probably be able to record a run.  :) It would take awhile to get finished though, because it's his camera.
