Too many fangirls to count
I use a maru mari -> Missle near entrance of norfair -> Bombs -> On the way to tourian, ice beam -> Mother Brain

Is that a good route? I want to have a reallyu good one.

I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
You need more than 5 missiles to get through Tourian.  At the very least, 15.

I'm speaking hypothetical. I've never really tried this. It did just occur to me that there is that 10 missle door though. maybe you could go ahead and beat Ridley. That might work.
Time bomb set get out fast!
That would definitely work, the only question is whether it's faster.  My guess is that Kraid would be much faster than Ridley in a one-miniboss run; a no-miniboss run would probably be faster than either, but it would only be suitable for quarkers, not console runners.  You can't count on those refills from the Metroids.

Personally, I would just feel wrong beating the game without beating Kraid and Ridley.  Skipping Crocomire or Spore Spawn is one thing, but skipping 75% of the game is pretty cheap.  Besides, NES Metroid has only two non-final bosses and we can't even be bothered to fight them?

I can still get the swimsuit ending with both. My regular route is Missles near norfair -> bombs -> ice beam -> high jump -> Varia Suit ->Ridley (and the energy tank) -> The e-tank in the 3rd room -> kraid e-tank -> kraid -> Mother Brain. There was an e-tank I didn't mention in there.
I'll be back. Maybe...
Kraid isn't even a real boss: in any other game he fills two screens, but he's not at all big in NES Metroid.

He's sure as hell harder than Ridley. :P
Time bomb set get out fast!
The word "hard" cannot be successfully applied to either Kraid or Ridley in the original game, especially by anyone in possession of bombs. :)

I don't think the Kraids of later games cheapen the first Kraid any more than the big revamped Guts Man of Mega Man 7 cheapens the one from MM1.  Besides, there's something to be said for being smaller than the doors out of your room.  I agree that he lacks the  intimidation factor, though... in fact, when I first played the game (exploring on my own, without reading the manual or a site), I thought he was a regular enemy.  When he was still there after I'd unloaded all my missiles on him, I reconsidered.
