If there is anything Super Metroid lacks, it is an Arctic Area. I had a great idea for one called "Negative Norfair;" Yes, I mean an area the equivelent of norfair but the exact opposite. Imagine... The intensive heat of norfair, only opposite. It's extra cold. Discuss.
Thread title:
It's been done in several hacks already.
Have they had it where the heat comes into effect though? I know there's been plenty of ice/frozen areas but I can't think of any off the top of my head that have the "heat bit" activated in them as well.

If I ever get things off the ground with my own hacking attempts that was one of the things I had planned to do at one point.

As far as I can recall, Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion are the only games that have an ice area; but as far as I know you never take damage from extreme cold the way you do from extreme heat areas.
I like turtles.
Pretty sure cold will damage you in Fusion if you don't have the Varia Suit.  Just try going into the Sub-Zero Containment room near the beginning of the game.

I stand corrected. You're right, Fusion does have damaging cold.
I forgot all about that.
Only reason that happens is because of the vaccine, which is probably why we haven't seen it happen in any of the other real games before now.

Give us a game after Fusion, Nintendo!
I think they did put some effort into sexualizing Samus in other M, and after Fusion her looks are totally shot - so not sure if they would do one after fusion but it would be cool if they did.

She wasn't physically changed from the X infection and subsequent Metroid Vaccine.
She looks just fine in the "quick finish" ending CGs.

I thought those gallery shots were just samus pics, and not necessarily pics of what she looks like post-surgery.  It says in the opening of the game that when the suit was surgically removed it 'drastically altered her appearance' (sorry if I don't have the words verbatim) so I've always pictured her to be all crazy looking under that suit.  Could be wrong, that's just the way I read into it.

The best explanation for why they couldn't take it off that anyone here's come up with was that the suit only ACTUALLY comes off when Samus is conscious (ala Other M's style) or it's sustained too much damage.

And I know that they atleast show Samus without her helmet in the fusion suit after one of the endings. So her face isn't damaged at all at minimum.

What are they referring to when they say her appearance was drastically altered?  Is the fusion suit basically her new body?  She's part machine now, right?  Why isn't biospark here?  What day is it?
ANKOKU
I don't remember the text verbatim, but I could probably rest easy on them referencing only her suit.

Uh, actually, Samus' suit comes off whenever she dies/falls unconcious/become helpless in Other M.

Read the last half of that sentence Tahn...
"or it's sustained too much damage."

But she is basically a cyborg now, isn't she?  Even if they managed to preserve her head intact, I think her body IS the fusion suit.  They removed her other suit surgically, which means they had to cut flesh, and probably replace it with something else.
I suppose the fusion suit could be removable to reveal a horribly scarred and disfigured body....but that would be kinda yuck.

I always throught that her suit was basically tied to the Zero Suit which basically summons it from / dimissses it to whatever oblivion it comes from.

Oh no she's hideous
I see a pic of samus from the fusion gallery.  Where's the date on it that indicates that this is her after fusion?
I like turtles.
There's also the animation just after the credits where she takes the suit off.
pretty sure the x she gets at the end restores her to normal somehow
Bangaa Bishop
More or less, because she gets the ice beam, which she was supposed to be unable to use.

Also, this.

I mean, Sakamoto was the one who confirmed it, so it would be understandable if you didn't believe it, but...

The surgery was a reference to the organic components of the Power Suit, not to performing surgery on Samus herself.

If Samus ever gets defeated in Fusion, her suit gets blown off, revealing her to appear basically as she does in the endings. I think that confirms that her body under the suit remains intact.
