I can't tell you, because I don't have the demo yet, but I've played it a lot, and I don't think it tells you when it takes place anywhere in the demo, so it's probably safe to say that no one knows yet. And if I'm wrong, hopefully someone with the demo will correct me.

Nah, you're right. Demo doesn't say anything about the story; the most we know about the story is what the www.metroidhunters.com page used to say. It had a small tidbit about "Samus arrives in the Tetra system to find a war of massive scale taking place. She hones her skills in the training simulator, then sets out on her biggest adventure yet." Or something to that effect. Also probably said something cute about how she'll be "Hunter... or hunted???" Man, I get real tired of that little catchphrase....
