First of all...wtf? Can that spark up the shaft be used in a 100% game? IIRC there's no need to go that direction in the final round-up. I can't remember for sure though. If you do have to detour to get the shine needed, then it'd be faster to just wall jump up that shaft.

And secondly...wtf? Who said there are shafts too narrow to wall jump? And how was ek credited with proving it?
Maybe he meant too wide? In any case, that "Meltdown" shaft is as wide as a wall jump can go. I'm barely gaining height.

shoot more?
That wouldn't help.

Maybe if you shoot down you can propel yourself >_>

Wow, you post fast.
What about that one room in ARC?  Not very specific, I know...  It's the room after the room where Nightmare's shadow goes across the background.  There's that orange/green X wall thing that's breakable only by Power Bombs...  Has anyone tried getting a shinespark, jumping up, planting a bomb, falling, sparking into the slope below and to the right of the X wall, regain your spark, jump up into the hole, plant another bomb, fall out, demorph, re-gain your spark on the slope, then roll through the hole, demorph, and shinespark through the X wall?  Please note the the X wall doesn't spawn until the yellow hatches are unlocked.  The hatch after the wall is yellow.

I've managed to bomb the second block, fall out, demorph, and then re-gain my shine but the first block always respawns.  I was thinking if someone was good at moving quickly, they could pause for the block to appear on top of them and when a block respawns on top of Samus, it instantly breaks...  I was wondering if that would work...

The reward would be pointless.  It'd be another early Power Bomb expansion.  Which would do exactly diddley squat for you.  But it'd still be cool to pull off.  I geuss the main reward would be impressing everyone here.  :D
Um, I'd get right on that if I knew where it was. Maybe a screenshot of the map? Just need the general location...
I think he wants to shinespark through this thing.

EDIT: Behold, my Emu-Rape attempt at doing this:

http://www.metroid2002.com/lifemega/arc_shinespark_comp.avi

The first bombing is about perfect. You only have a couple of frames to play around with though. Just doing the first one on a console is probably on par with Bob in terms of dificulty. The second bombing in this movie could be a few frames faster, but I've done it about perfectly and haven't made it back to the hill in time. You have to go down the hill a couple steps for the horizontal shinespark to hit the slope.

We'll have to see what Ekard does with it, but I don't think it's possible.

Indeed, LifeMega is correct.  That is the room I was talking about.  And didn't a bunch of people say the sequence break I had in mind at the creation of this thread was impossible until Ekard came along and made Fusion his slave?  Twisted Evil

I can't watch the video LifeMega made for now since I'm only in typing class at school and not web design.  I'll watch the video as soon as circumstance permits it, but...  It doesn't seem all that impossible to me.  I've made further attempts since the last post I made in here, and I'm convinced that it's possible.
Im 90% sure its possible, just it cant be done on console.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well; that it'd be another emu-rape deal that needed fram perfection.  That's why I've got money on Ekard for pulling this off first.

I dunno about frame perfection. It kinda looks like the crouch and climb could be done better. How far down do you need to go to be able to spark into the hill?

EDIT: nevermind, the crouch wasn't bad. I still think you flew too high though from the wall jump though..
All this leads to is a power bomb expansion, which doesn't give you anything. Similar to this

:O This is new information for all of us! Let's stop trying! Rolling Eyes

I've done that before. Pretty fun. Too bad it's not a speed trick though.

As JaggerG pointed out, we're not attempting this for an early power bomb, we're attempting this to go out and say "It can be done."  If that's all the reward there is, so be it.  Bragging rights are reward enough for me.

unless i'm missing something big, it's not possible, because the first block reappears before you can go through...
another related event is that when you codebreak/shark/ar to get wave beam, get the powerbomb expansion, and leave the way you came without the whole SA-X encounter, the computer will ask you to comfirm mission objective if you go back to nav station and, either answering yes or no, it will say "target eradicated" and nothing else. what significance is the SA-X encounter that makes it unskippable?

If you spark more than once before attempting again, you can try to time it right and have it reform as you climb into the hole and lay the bomb.

Also, it IS an early power bomb expansion, just not the ability to use them.
I was thinking just plant more bombs.  That oughtta get the job done.

Man, I sounded like a terrorist there...  >.<

you mean like when rolling out? That'll definitely widen the gap. You'll still need to spark at least twice, but it seems plausible.

I already found a way to time the bombs, its just that you have barely enough time to get the shinespark right.

woot sparky! instant 14 PBs ftw!
the fusion forum is becoming the 'hall of emu-raped wonders'. might have to renovate the fusion section or something.

Or just remove it completely. That'd work, too. :)
