This hack has different physics than any other, so it's pretty difficult for me to compare it to another hack. There are a few things that require figuring out, but once you've figured it out it becomes pretty easy to pull off. Enemies are generally tougher than in Super Metroid. I mean, seriously, when you see super missiles climbing walls you know something is up.

Come to think of it, these guys aren't even tough at all. But overall it's probably slightly more difficult than SFI. Then again, I'm not a reliable judge as I know what I did to the physics and also what the enemies weaknesses are... but I definately don't think this is as hard as something like Cliffhanger on easy.

Edit: after some thought I think I will put it down as hard as Cliffhanger easy ver, just without the instant death ghosts and mockballs and other hard tricks required.
Woah!  Surprised  It's like another dimension.
Excuse me, DSO, we already have a Super Metroid: Mindfuck!  laugh new

Seriously, SM Tanks climbing the walls what.

...that is so awesome!
Yo.
Hooray for posting just to be posting.

Those Super Missiles must be a total bitch to avoid. Are they killable at least? aiwebs_013
I said they're not too tough. The only time they'll probably concern you at all is when you're in the morph ball maze with them and can't kill them with bombs.

Now there's a hack I refuse to have anything to do with: Mindfudge.  It's intentionally a badly done hack to point out what not to do if making a hack.

The Super Missile tanks as enemies??  About time someone thinks of something like that....  I shall figure out how to defeat these cool little things and enjoy this hack.  You don't have to answer this if you don't want but are there also other custom made enemies besides the SM tanks?? grin new
The SM tanks aren't custom made, just graphic edits. There's a few more, some that I really like and a few that are just LOL. (The SM tank is on the LOL side, for example).

Fighting Super Missile tanks?  Aw, that seems silly.  Embarassed I want a spr srs hck plz? aiwebs_018

laugh new  If you do keep them in, atleast give them tentacles or something.  Like that robot from Lost in Space.

j/k ;-)

You should make those SM tanks like the ones in fusion with wings.
First post update, and a pic to make this post worthwhile.

I really like the red background.
The palettes blend together well.

I really love the colors of your tileset, but I'm not too fond of the completely flat surfaces.....as well as that abrupt corner-cut.

It's funny how one screenshot speaks volumes to the viewer. In this case, DSO just happened to use a screenshot of one area that isn't all bumps and curves, and our brains take that window and assume the 99% we haven't seen is probably the same way.

I'd bet my lunch that the hack has very, very few of those types of terrain, and that the hack is better for having the occasional UN-natural geography.

This is off subject but I think the word you're looking for is not "slander" but rather "libel".... Razz

Anyway, no matter what the terrain, I look forward to this. grin new
Go ahead. Stare.

The hack is called "AngryFireChozo," so it could be very likely the Chozo had a hateful grudge against the natural terrian, and made it flat to spite any bounty hunters that enter their domain of ANGER... Besides, he is trying to get the hack out polished by the 5th, so he might cut some corners in a few rooms to preserve time. I know he has been pulling all-nighters to finish it.
A word on difficulty:

I tried to make the main path difficult if you didn't do much item searching but not outrageous. It is extremely difficult, but if you wish I believe you can make it to the Angry Fire Chozo himself with just morph, bombs, 1 missile/SM/PB tank apiece, and speed booster. Charge is required in the escape, so if you passed over it earlier, it will be provided when you need it.

There were a few problems I encountered that I've fixed, and I've toned down the difficultly of enemies from the way I had it, but explorationally this hack is hard, especially in the secret paths. I simply don't have the time to go through everything and make it all just right, but I believe that this won't be too difficult to the point of not being enjoyable.

Edit: Since I'm not using Mother Brain or Ceres Ridley, I have to activate the timer another way. Unfortunately, this causes it to get all garbled up as it doesn't have a proper setup and at this point I don't have the time to figure out how to give it one, so you won't really know how much time you'll have. Maybe this is a good thing though >_>
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
I think you're supposed the use a layer1_2 of C19F. Someone said that what started the countdown after MB's room...
. . .
Its C91F, and thats to activate the Zebes Timebomb state not the timer.  The timer is started by either Mother Brain or Ceres Ridleys AI.

I'm trying to help DSO with this so he can focus on his level design so he can hit his deadline, but I'm still a noob at ASM, so no promises on this being fixed before release.

The timer set by Ridley's AI won't happen unless he flies toward the screen.....which is in a Mode 7 room. I tried placing him in another area of the game and all he did was fly away, nothing else lol. Guess he could always be used as a distraction from the regular game.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
That could be interesting in-game.

Skip Ceres, starting at your ship.  Have him behind some blocks that you cannot damage until later, and have him just fly away, taunting you! aiwebs_011
That would actually be pretty neat to have him do something like that.  You're exploring the deserted caves and come out into an area only to find Ridley behind a wall you can't blast through and watch helplessly as he flies away, taunting you.
Really good day today. Finished 81 screens, so the escape may be as large as I planned it after all, even though for some reason I felt it nessecary to make multiple path choices to take through the escape...

I will stick to May 5th, even if it's 11:59 EST :P
What'd you say?
Hurry DSO hurry!! I can't wait much longer for this!  Brick wall
