AngryFireChozo is a hack that started when I accidentally created some glitched physics while playing with Insom's boostball. At first I thought the changes that happened were just silly, but as I played with it I realized that there were many interesting applications that could be created for it. As my main hack is bogged down by graphics work, I was looking for an outlet to get back to level design. Combine the two, and AngryFireChozo is born.

This is going to be a giant minihack. It might be large enough to be considered a fullhack, but it'll play like a minihack. I started just over last week with this planning to be a "few room hack" and already it's grown to the point where I can confidently say it'll be almost half the size of the original by release. However, nearly half of this world is well hidden, behind (seemingly) impossible barriers.

Edit (April 25th):

10 days left and it's overdrive time. Currently 94% is the max obtainable, probably to be 100% tommorow. Mockball is required for 100%, as well as some old and some new tricks. I can say obtaining 100% in this hack may be the most difficult out of all hacks, as the lack of any real need for more upgrades than are provided in the main "game completion" path makes most of these extra missile packs superflous and stuff, so I just hid them in places wherever without any real hints, just making sure they couldn't be gotten earlier than expected and break the game. It will serve as a real challenge to anyone who is interested in 100%, however.

Once 100% is all placed, the only thing left is to finish the path to the final boss, and then work on the escape.

I have no clue about how much of my level design goal has been reached by now, as the map is absolutely crazy and secret areas quite often go behind areas that you already explored... Due to headaches and other responsibilities, it's not as large as it could've been, but it's still one giant minihack. (And I have 10 days to expand upon that and meet my original goal) >_>

Progress:

ASM: 92% (One last little thing I have to do)
Level design: 70%?

At this point my biggest concern is that by release I'll have overlooked some small game-breaking minor detail. I've already caught a couple of doors that I connected one way, but not the way back... I do as much testing as I can, but I don't have time to give it a proper beta-testing. I hope the hack doesn't seem unpolished due to the rush it was made in...

Looking good.  I hope this one is also for those who don't bomb-jump or mockball, at least the main required path anyway.  I'm curious what the skills required are but I'll probably go as far as possible and hopefully beat this one anyway.

One more thing: May 5th??  Are you sure it'll be ready by then??  I mean testing as well as level design can take time and why the specific date??  Jathys also makes me nervous for the same reason of telling us the specific release date (09/09/09) (no offense, looking forward to these hacks).
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is going to be fun. MWJ FTW!
The main path will seem to require mockballing (A perfect one, no less), due to one instance early on, but it's never actually required if you look for an alternate way across. IBJ is not needed, especially with the new physics...

Testing does take time, but I've been working with the tilesets so much that building what I want with them becomes second nature. Everything should be tested out enough to prevent any serious issues before release.

Samus...? Is that you?
A hack with physics created by accident... i really hope you don't screw up. I think the physics are crazy!! Just like me whoa (@c.bags)
May 5th... should come today

Hey my birthday is tomorrow!  j/k

This hack does look pretty awesome.  Some people freak when you change the physics but I tend to like it.  Looking forward to this.
Go ahead. Stare.

Like Redesign? The physics aren't anything like those at all. I can safely say after being shown the changes that it will be like nothing you'd expect.

Ah, good.  I shall find this alternate way across....  Infinate bomb jumping not needed??  Quietus will be displeased but will forgive laugh new Razz Razz.  There are two hacks I can think of right now that has physics changes: Redesign and Sevenstar.  Redesign has vertical physics and Sevenstar has horizontal physics.  Wall-jumping possible right away in one but not the other, too.  Can't wait to see what physics changes this one has.  Not sure how the physics are changed but I like you teasing about it without giving it away grin new.

Keep it up!!
Screwed and Chopped also had physics changes but they made Samus high even higher than normal.

This one sounds interesting.  I'm liking what I've seen so far.
Once you know how, getting through this without touching the spikes is easy suitless and becomes even more of a breeze with gravity. The hardest part is that you'll have to discover how.

End physics 101.

Apart from coming from the right, with a running start, or something wacky like freezing the spikes, I dunno, chap.  It'll be fun to figure out, though. grin new
What'd you say?
*raises hand* Teacher, when is the next lesson?
If we're allowed to guess... then I have 2 that could explain getting through that gap.

Is it something along the lines of Redesign's screw attack? holding the run button = max speed while jumping no matter what?

Boostball now works even in non-morphball form? You can hold the dash button to charge up, then release while moving to get a boost of speed in the direction you're currently facing/traveling in?
Gold Spikes.  Sorry for the spammy comment but those are Sweeet!  And judging from the other visuals that I've seen so far -this hack will be as well.

That sky kicks ***.  Love the contrast between it and the rocks. Very Happy
Unless he found a way to allow Boost Ball to work in a direction while in mid-air....
YAY TEXT
Once you let go of the jump button you can gain height by pressing it again?
Or maybe the physics are so crazy that you really do jump that fast horizontally.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Maybe you can Space Jump as in Morph Ball form?
Wait, or maybe your beam shots can "push" you backwards like a recoil!

Who is this handsome fellow?

Anyway, time for enemy 101. Some bosses you fight because you have to. Other bosses you destroy to save the world (It blows up anyway, incidentally). However, some bosses are so handsome (That means powerful/glitched/etc.) that your only hope is to find and escape through the open door before they murder you. Such bosses are so powerful that they are probably used to decorate the otherwise bland sand room. If you decide to stand and make a fight, you're probably an idiot who failed enemy 101.

Time for Physics 101 to do some grading:

Cardweaver:
1: First one is a possibility that could actually get you through, but that does little for the "figuring out" part. Also, I don't entirely like that aspect of Redesign. B-

2: Hilarious in concept, glitched in execution when someone builds up speedbooster speed and boosts to be greeted by a glitched line of tiles. B+ (Because it's hilarious in concept)

Gaius:
Such wisdom. Even though it had (almost) nothing to do with Physics 101, I've never heard of a more high level use of physics than looking good. The only question is why are you in my class instead of graduated last year? A+

Quietus:
Quite advanced, this is like Physics 103 or 104 material, seriously. However, you can't "Space Jump", in morphball form. However, nothing says you can't break broken rules of physics. A

Tax:

1. Insom already did that.

2. Bwahahaha! Every action must have an equal and opposite reaction, so therefore, if charged energy with like almost no discernible mass can be fired with enough force to send Samus flying, imagine how much damage that would do on impact. Power beam could kill Zebetites! In other words, you might've made a case for missiles, but you said beams. Not that it matters, since the answer is no either way.

Fizzer:

Suspiciously, that seems to work in every game that has a jump button. Thus I highly suspect you cheated using Wikipedia. C

FirePhoenix:

Copying Cardweaver's homework are we? Well, he gets decent grades, so I can't blame you. B

This concludes Physics 101, except for the part where no one has figured out how you actually get through that tunnel of spikes.
I have more theories.

I call this one my projectile motion theory.

Much like a cannon, boostball no longer aims the direction you are facing either left or right, but whatever direction you're currently pressing, thus allowing you to launch yourself diagonally at differing speeds based on how long you charge it up.

This is more along the lines of PH 102, and a little silly, but the boostball now magnetizes the morphball, and allows you to balance between the metal spikes and slowly coast your way through. It becomes more of a breeze with gravity due to reduced friction.
To make it through without any damage, boostball must actually be turned off.
