Well, after four months of me playing around with Maya, this is the best thing I have done so far. I spent many hours between yesterday and today creating him, and I just barely got him to the stage where I can begin animation about an hour ago.

Anyway, for those of you who can't guess what this is, (Yeah, like I expect you guys to not know what it is.... Wink) it's a Terran Marine from Starcraft. I used an action figure that I got a few years ago as a starting point.

So, what do you guys think? Like I said, this is the best thing I have been able to do up to this point. (And this is before I have even had a class on this... I can't wait until my 3D animation class begins less than two weeks from now. grin new )

In my opinion , textures make a model.
Humans are the hardest things to get right as proportions have to be almost perfect. Try using screenshots from starcraft ghost to help next time and good luck with the classes!

Unfortunately, textures are one of the things I haven't spent too much time trying to figure out yet. (I've been focusing on making the actual 3D models so far, which takes enough time already.) That's where the classes will definitely help me out a lot.

Thanks for the feedback though. If anything, this only makes me appreciate people like Nintendo, Blizzard, and Pixar for how hard it really is to do this right.
Well, you're definatly off to a good start.  I dabbled in 3D modeling for a little while, but never managed to make anything decent.

Looks good, even untextured, I think.  Keep it up ^_^
