Okay, since nobody in IRC is listening, I'll post this here:

Whenever you fight mother brain, there's a little block that appears to seal you in her room to battle her. However, there have been two instances, when I've been playing the game, where the block just... didn't appear, at all. I didn't really pay it any mind at the time, but now I wonder. When you leave the room, as it's exploding, the door back into mother brain's room, from the tall shaft, is locked. I wonder if, were that block to not appear, and you got the room to start exploding, you could go back through to the room before, with all the rinkas, and maybe it would load the post-explosion state of that room, since there's no state where it's exploding. If that were to happen, it's possible that you could then go back into mother brain's room, grab the power bombs, and then move over to chozodia and, er, beat the game.
So I guess the first thing to ask is if anyone else has gotten that block to not appear and seal you out before, or remembers me mentioning it once before, cause I know it's happened to me at least twice, probably more that I just didn't notice.
Thread title:
in the name of justice!
Can't say I have, though the little useless map in the corner obscured it during my six dozen battles in Hard 15%.

I'd kind of assume that the door at the front of the room would be grayed out or something, but hey, I don't know.
lol no way
Well wait, what do you mean the door at the front of the room? Like, back where you enter it, behind the first zeebetite? I guess you're probably right, but then... what reason would they have for making it grey? The one behind mother brain isn't even flashing, as far as I know, but just remains blue the entire battle (er, unless that's... metroid one, but I don't think it is). But yeah, if you're supposed to not even be capable of going back right, there's no reason for them to grey it out. Also, you could potentially shoot the door as soon as you enter the room as a whole, to ensure that it stays open. I don't really know, this is all guesswork after all.
Do you have a video of this odd block, because I'm not entirely sure exactly which block you're talking about.
He's talking about what appears in place of the Zebitite that locks you in the battle Mother Brain.  I think.

If it is true that there's another way out of Mother Brain's room after you beat her...  I think it'd be a little pointless.  The timer would start...  You might be able to glitch the game entirely and get the Power Bomb tank, but all it would do is nothing.  Because wouldn't it disappear in the suitless portion of the game?
I'ts not pointless because you'll be able to skip the Power Bomb inside Chozodia that you'd get normally, which saves some time.
The biggest time savers would be:

The PB tank near the FPS. Wouldn't have to backtrack 3+ minutes to get the damned thing.
Not having to get the PB tank near Metal Ridley as the first, and being able to start the item cleanup from everywhere else the first time you pass the Glass Tube room.
lol no way
Yeah... like if you could get it, one of two things would happen: The timer would still be counting (which might still be somehow undone, if the right trigger was hit elsewhere), and you'd just end up with one power bomb in your arsenal when you get the new suit, OR the timer would stop for no reason, and you could then finish up collecting the items in like... kraid/norfair, then go to crateria and get that missile, and start chozodia from the wrecked ship area.
Of course, it could always happen that if you even could get that PB tank first (under brain's tank), it would do the same as with the one in norfair, when gotten with AR (i.e. laying one totally freezes the game), until you get the new suit. I doubt it if it would pull a Fusion and just not give you one, because most items in MZM are acquired the same, rather than from the little downloady things.
But uh, yeah, I guess we just need to find out how that back door looks when mother brain's exploding.
Laying a Power Bomb w/o fully powered suit= freezed game? 99.9% sure it doesn't...

And the timer won't stop if you get an item.  Going into mother brains room back in the escape won't work either, it's just a room state where mother brain& the Zebetites are missing, not the destroyed one. I've tested that all quite some time before with AR. And getting Pbs before fully powered suit should make no problem at all. You will get all items you had before when grabbing the fully powered suit, except Varia(you will always get it) and afaik Gravity(you will always get the abilities, even if you don't have it. That's how I remember it anyway.)

I *think* you might be able to stop the timer if you can get to a cutscene. The problem is that the only one would be the one before that thing which gives you the fully powered suit, and you can't get there in two minutes, even if you could go through the Power bomb doors to Chozodia.
twenty eight fifty
easy mode! five minutes, i think.
With Gameshark, I have broken into Tourian backwards with early power bombs. First, when you get to the elevator, the elevator does not work. You can crouch on the elevator, but it won't take you down. After arriving at the elevator, go to the room to the right of where the ship used to be (it isn't there anymore). Now go back, and IIRC, the ship is back. Go back to the hallway to the left to find everything exploding. Go down to the elevator and now it works. In Tourian, everything's exploding and the door to Mother Brain's room is locked.

With Gameshark, I've also beaten the game in six minutes and eighteen seconds.
I just found out you CAN shinespark underwater/lava. I had the super dash always charged cheat on and i shinesparked full speed up that left norfair lava tunnel and collected early power bomb. of course its meaning less with infinite health cheat and shinespark cheat... :(
You can't charge the shinespark under lava.
直死の魔眼使い
I'm with Ekard here. Unless you have BOTH of those cheats active, trying to enter lava while having a charge not only kills you in a few secs, but also immediately cancels your shine charge, AFAIK.
lol no way
Doesn't cancel it, just when you jump she simply doesn't do it; doesn't work in morph ball form, either. You can dip in the lava and jump out and do it though, if you can keep the charge that long.

Edit: Was fighting MB and the little block randomly didn't materialize; I shot MB a few times in the eye then got scared I'd die and jumped up to the hole. Turns out when you roll through it the camera just scrolls over to you, and doesn't stay focused on MB's little area anymore. When I drop below where she shoots, and hang on a ledge, she'll shoot but the shots explode on the back wall of her little room... which is nice, because otherwise they'd hit me. Hanging out all the way back at the beginning of the room, I can still here her charging and shooting as though I were still right there next to her, which is rather silly in my opinion. I left the room and went back in, and she was just reset... which in my opinion totally sucks. If it happens again I'll try killing her first, then rolling out the back way.
Now you just need to figure out how to duplicate this...it may be possible for early PBs if we can just get the state of the room to change to "after destruction" state.
Wait until after she's destroyed.  Then go through where the block should be.  That's all I can think of.

Don't forget, we'll also need a way to turn off the countdown...
I dunno, would going out the back way turn it off?
Probably not.  I'm thinking you'd need a cut scene to turn it off...
Item collection might disable the countdown. If not, we can try to break into Chozodia and see if we can reach the Chozo Ghost fast enough.

EDIT: Power bombs actually have the best chance of cancelling the countdown. It'll be the first power bombs, so the game automatically pauses and shows you the PBs in the item screen.
Good point.  Although if you pause during the explosion (By using the start button, the countdown doesn't start.  However, the whole message that it shows may just be...  You never know until somebody actually fails to have the block show up and escape the back way after the countdown starts.  *Shrugs*  Who knows?  the room may be pre-explosion as opposed to post-explosion.  That non-showing up sometimes block has never not been there for me, so...  I haven't been able to try it.
lol no way
Well what if I were to destroy her, back out, then save it... then go back to the room. Odds are the timer wouldn't be there when I reloaded the state, that just wouldn't make sense. In any case, I haven't gotten it again yet, otherwise I would have tried killing her before doing it, heh. I'll let you know if I get it again.
Shocked  *Slaps self in face.*  That...  Why didn't I think of that!?!  That's brilliant!

Here I was all looking for nearby cut scene...  Stupid DeathNoble...
Would like to see this actually happening.  Someone show me a video!
No one's done it yet.  The none-appearing block seems to be random.  There's about three or four people here working on it, but none of us have gotten out after killing Mother Brain and starting the countdown.
