aj's hard 10% 0:49:41 speed run now available

AJ i NEED your help!! I just have no idea how to kill mecha-ridley on 10% hard. It is absolutely the most difficult thing. And i know that even when i do kill him (IF i do) that I'm bound to die on the escape. HOW could you have done it so many times?

I must have tried over 50 times by now and once i break his glass so that he begins using lasers, it's all downhill from there. He usually does a combo where I have to avoid his laser, then he shoots missles, and when i try to shoot them to get ammo, I get hit by missiles, or a laser, and then his claw, which kills me. Sometimes I get close, because he changes color a lot, but I don't know how many missiles it takes to kill him and it's SO FRUSTRATING!

I'm in awe that you tried. Man, that's got to suck. And I had trouble doing my Normal 15% first run! Well, I did only have two supers and 199 health without screw attack, but still! One claw and you're dead! How many missiles does it take? About a thousand? Man!

lol, actually i think its around 30 including the 10 to break the glass. but it is SO HARD! I don't know if its my strategy, or if it is me, I thought motherbrain was supposed to be the hard one, but MR is WAY harder!

Heh, this took me about 2 weeks to get down right, and even then it's mostly luck... just do it over and over again and eventually you'll do it. Then you'll die almost immediately on the escape, be super pissed off, then do it again until you've died on the escape about a million times... it's still mostly just learning his patterns (there's like three laser patterns, he'll go middle, up-left, then down-left right at you; up-left, up-left, up-left [his dummy phase I call it, since he never hits you] and then there's straight at you three times). Keep in mind that for the lasers he can shoot them up-left at a less than 45degree angle, straight, then down-left at a less than 45degree angle, and a straight down-left 45degree angle. Keep this in mind for once you've figured out what pattern he's using, and also keep in mind that after a missile barrage, he usually shoots one laser (and misses), then sits his head back down to cover his weak spot; after he goes back down, wait like 1 second and then jump above his head so he brings it way up. This makes his laser aim all messed up, helps sometimes, and also uncovers his weak spot. Another thing, when you get him to the 4th color phase (dark-red), he'll stop being retarded and realize he's about to die, and shoot lasers near the lower left corner in hopes to hit you - be prepared for this, and keep in mind that if you're against the wall when a laser hits, it can go in you a little bit and doesn't hurt until it touches the wall and makes a little explosion. Its ok, thanks a lot though. I have taken him down a few times (3 i think) but like you said, I died on the escape everytime. After I beat him the first time it wasn't so frustrating now that i know i CAN beat him. The farthest I got was to the room with the robot thing, I died in there 2 times from foolish mistakes. I'll be sure to try again this weekend and hopefully finish. I'm hoping for under 1:30, although, that's no record. hah.

I finally decided to save when I (thankfully) got to the save station under Mr. MR. That was the first time I didn't make some horribly stupid mistake, and I still barely got there with 49 health! Next time should be much faster because I did Ridley with only 4 supers and messed up a BUNCH of speed tricks, including the final escape (forgot to spark left when going through that first door, and after stopping half on the ledge, I got shot by the freaking pirate!!!), plus the time it takes me to get the super under the Screw attack is probably more than the time it takes to get the one in Crateria.

53:03. Must improve.

AJ's was a 10% Hard run, mine was a 15% Normal run. Somebody did a half hour run before, right?

Oh, if you don't know what I'm saying, 10% hard is way harder and takes a lot longer (boss battles especially).

my first normal 15% was 56:56. I guess I COULD try for faster, but seeing as how i just about want to die considering i STILL have not beaten 10% hard...i dont think i'll be doing any low% games again

Right before I get my suit back in Chozodia, 36:58. I think it's looking alright. I can definitely beat this guy in under a minute, but I'm gonna rest before I try. It's no record, but I'll definitely break 45 minutes.

I played through again on the weekend, and after much frustration, beat MR for the fifth time, got as far as i've ever gotten in the escape and the BLACK PIRATES killed me. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, the trick didn't work, the first one came up and shot me and there was nothing i could do.

I tried beating MR some more today, and got extremely pissed off. I had told myself that anyday where i was trying for a long time, i wanted to at least beat him one time that day. Of course, I got him really close 2 times and died anyway. So i just got super pissed and couldn't play anymore due to a headache.

I think I found out a new trick with MR though, but its sorta useless unless this one thing happens to you. If i can do it on an emulator thats what i'd rather do to show people, cuz i dont even know how to record off the tv yet, and its pointless to waste a vhs on it. So yeah, after all this rambling, nevermind. hah.

It was my last one, because I got so tired of it. But not that I'm almost done with the any%s, and I'm about to do another 100% hard, I sorta want to do another one. Maybe I'll do an any% normal again first though, cause I know my first seg sucks ass....

okay im seriously going crazy. i want to swear a lot and kill things. mecha ridley seems to have become smart and now i cant even kill him anymore. i have tried in total probably 300 times to beat the end of this game in 10% hard and failed every time. I have only even beaten MR 5 times out of all those. I'm so close and the end is just so FUCKING HARD FUCK GOD SHIT.

Yeah, that's great. Well, Mecha bitch is a real son of a bitch. Do you have screw attack? If not, then...um...you're screwed. I guess just get used to shooting down the missiles and dodging lasers, all while watching for the claw attack. Good luck to you.
