First off, let me say that I am all amazed by each and every one of you... :D

What you can do in ALL of the metroid games, reminds me of why they are the best series out there.... I am the same in the SSX series by EA BIG (check out www.merqurycity.com to see some of my videos... MrChaos is my name there)

Anyhow, I am trying to view 'Dave's' 100% 1:05 run... I have visual boy advance 1.7.4 and the metroid zero mission rom (don't worry, I own the game :)) I also have the files entitled .vmo and .vmw

Now, I was wondering how exactly I view these files???

Many thanks to all that help me!!!
Thread title:
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
I think you need VBA 1.6a to watch the video correctly.
Do you know where I can find that???

I checked emulation.net and only found 1.7.4...

Also, if you could get me the Mac version (I am not sure of the mac vs. pc user base here..)
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Advance-Power.de has 1.6a, but I'm not sure if there's a separate Mac version or not.

There are some people here that use Macs and could help you, namely, the owner of this site is one.
Can I say once and for all that it has not really been determined (by me, anyway) what causes the movies to desynch.

You CAN use different versions to play the movies than the one it was created on.  This works with 1.6a movies on 1.7 and 1.7 movies on 1.6a, I have tried both.

Movies WILL usually run correctly with automatic or some other frameskip setting.

Movies WILL usually run correctly with lots of stuff running in the background.  I've had the emulator, mirc, and several browser windows open simultaneously and movies still played fine.

I have never seen a movie desynch because I was alt-tabbing around or pausing the movie.

If anyone has concrete information about desynchs, (rather than simply under what circumstances it failed for you) please post it.
Well, I found vba 1.6, but have not really looked into it that much yet...

Is there any particular step I need to take to figure it out?? If no one feels like helping me, that is perfectly fine...

I don't mind figuring things out on my own... (people here have already helped plenty!!)
yikes. sorry for taking so long to respond. i wish i had better news for you.

unfortunately, bannister has not seen fit to implement vmu support in the mac versions of visual boy advance. therefore, there is no known way to play vmu files under any version of the os except by using virtual pc, which i can imagine would be rather disappointing.

basically you will need to pick one of the following options:

1) wait until the first of the month for various speed runs to become available in mp4 format on either this site or radix's speed demos archive (to which links will be posted on this site).
2) come to the chat available on this site and we will try to work out a way for you to download the existing mp4 segments of the 15% run.

sorry for the inconvenience. i sometimes wonder if the notorious unreliability of vmu files resulted in their being excluded time and time again from the mac vba spec.
Damn, that sucks! :(

I already have the 15% run...

I just wanted to see how 'Dave' did 100% so fast..
