yeah, that's why we didn't let saber ... he asked like every day for a month.

Well, we'd already hinted to him about it. And he was half joking.

When he became a mod it seemed to confirm the "Mother Brain conspiracy."  Then tomatobob or GreenMamba or someone had to go and ruin that.  >_<
always move fast
the "ark conspiracy" overtook the "motherbrain conspiracy" to keep us off track... until now that is!

*guns down ark and stuff*
Personally, I've never seen why people want to be mods/admins to tell the truth.  It's a hard job when you think about it.  I mean really, being a mod/admin means you have to decide when there's a violation of the rules or not.  Some rules we have here are clearly defined but not all of them.  For the ones that aren't stated bluntly it's up to a mod/admin to interpret the rules and take action if it's been decided that there has been.  Not only that, but it's also up to them as to what punishment to hand out for a violation of the rules.  I mean, there have got to be times when a mod/admin here would've just wanted to click "ban" on a member and have the power to do it.  But knowing that it'd be wrong because banning that user would be way to harsh.

Another big thing that keeps me from wanting to be a mod here is it's up to them to decide when topics in the Boardwalk are deserving of their own topic or if they're more suited for the social topic.  I wouldn't want that decision resting on my shoulders; I don't think I'd be able to make a call like that.
We have a roulette game going on deciding which topics should be locked and who to ban and such. Keeps it simple.

It is really not as hard (or as big a deal) as it looks.  I didn't ask to be a mod, at first I didn't even think I'd be able to handle it, time-wise, but it's really less of a gig than it looks like.
saber is also well-suited to being a mod (is not afraid to take action when it's necessary, and does a fairly good job of determining necessity), so your mileage may vary.

Yeah, and we used to give a number to each topic, put them into a randomiser, and let a computer draw out one number a day. Then we'd lock that topic. Easy!

but that is quite subjective, nate. I used to love sabers posts when he didn't have an avatar yet, but now I'm starting to be annoyed by the majority of his posts. I can't exactly lay my finger on the reason however. Perhaps because I'm used to loose moderation, whereas M2K2 is pretty strict nowadays.

*Shrug*  I only act as a mod when I specifically say that I am acting as such, so if you're annoyed by me, that's probably not saying anything particular about the staff system on m2k2.  Now, if you've got problems about calls I have made as a mod specifically, that's something we can talk about.
Well, like I said, I can't really put my finger on it. I guess I just don't fit in with the crowd here; I'm a different kind of person.
hahah. aren't we all.
How many people have changed their usernames today??
red chamber dream
One afaik.
njahnke and TRH?
red chamber dream
I actually thought trh's occured more than a few days ago. Guess it's his irc nick that I'm thinking of.
That's what I'm seeing.  Nate changed it to nate (I guess since everybody calls him that anyway), but I can't fathom why TRH would change his to trh.
red chamber dream
Good thing you don't have to fathom it, since he's trh and you're not.
Back on topic, take this in the social topic from now on instead.
