Very nice. Its too bad there was no bowtwoon or draygon action. I'm curious as for their strategies for both charge and sm runs.
With the SM route it's a 1 round. 10 Supers and 10 missiles, pattern manipulation might be needed.
For the charge route a spazer PB combe will likely be used to initiate both of the rounds (1 round should be impossible by far) for 600 damage each and then it is just the same old missile spam again.
I would be to. Now, it would probably be harder in a early charge run because of when do I fire missiles vs supers vs pb combo vs charged shot, and not just missiles vs supers. all you probably is shoot him and then minulate him to drop refils.
Yeah but manipulating his drops isn't really easy, supers are very rare. Also since you are under water it is hard to both shot his gunk and get away from his body fast enough and then pick everything up fast enough so it does not vanish.
Also I tend to get obsessed with polishing and in a fight like this I am scared by the magnitude of work I have ahead of me.
The room where you have to do a very, very flat mockball to get though the room right before brinstar 2 (or whatever it's called, with a music shift and it's like a big shaft with brown walls. Hope you know where I mean). It's simply impossible. Anyone got any tricks? or do I just need to learn the super flat mockball on a keyboard...
Lance: Thank you too, for contributing so many cool runs for SMI and other hacks. Enjoy your time in Thailand and see you soon again.
Tonski: Your final WIP looks really great! The optimization level is very high, and I honestly couldn't see a difference between it and the current TAS standard for this game when watching it in full speed. Although you didn't use the refill strategy like Cpadolf did in Maridia's platform-like plants room, you probably were a bit faster to pass it with your clever underwater morph bounce tech for that. Also it seems that the spike boost in the small ex-Super Missile room after Phantoon is a bit faster than jumping to it like done in all runs before. Nice find. I hope you will finish your TAS someday, since it would be very interesting to finally see which route (Charge or Gravity Super) will be faster in the end. Also, I really like your individual strategic choices. Even if in some cases they are slightly slower than the optimal way, they make your run look very unique with many unexpected moves, which I always value very much. Keep up the great work!
The first person to actually make a constructive comment about my WIP, thank you. :)
I really hope to finish this some day too, but I'm facing the same thing you are: lack of motivation/time. I guess I'll work more on this on holidays but thanks again for the comments. I like to concentrate on the entertainment side a bit more than optimization.
Also, I'm amazed no one has noticed my Dachora room strategy expecially when the powerrangers (Taco and Kriole) have tested it to be 10 frames faster. That is, instead of jumping over the Rio morphing inside the second green budger enemy. I never tested if this was faster but seems Taco/Kriole did.

I've been planning to use this and other similar semi-damage-boosts in low%v2. It turns out that I have excessive energy by the time I reach Kraid's etank, yet not enough to skip it and survive Norfair afterwards, so I'm planning to deplete my energy completely during that segment.
I just decided to pick this TAS up again today (I'm going to work on it alongside with the 100% run) and made some decent progress already. I redid it from the last few maridia rooms and saved some decent time and am now up to the snail climb room. As for now I still aim to finish it before the end of the year, but if all goes as planned once I'm past maridia progress will become significantly faster and maybe it will be done already after summer.
Okay, so throw away the after summer estimation, if everything continiues to go as smooth as it does right now 1-2 months will probably be more accurate.
I'm already all the way through maridia (thank god, that sucked) and are just now heading down to norfair for the speedbooster and crocs E-tank.

o_O you are one fast TASer. If I may ask, how hard was Draygoon to optimise? Good luck with the rest of the run. I look forward to watching the run when it's finished.
