That was very enjoyable. Waterball is a great trick. Of course Phantoon was absolutely amazing too.
Now you guys leave the enthusiastic fans craving for more. Well, take your time and keep it as cool as they are now.
I just hope that we will see a finished run someday ( preferably before the end of this year :D ). It has become a trend to either dump the projects halfway through or start over completely or delay the making for months and months just to notice another year has passed.... Well, both Tonski and Cpadolf are the ones who have finished what they have started so I have faith.
Yeah I have yet to abandon any project I have begun to work on except various non public made ideas I've had that usually stops around halfway through crateria, my SM:I v1 which went to past crocmire was only restarted because I had time to do it waiting for Tonski. Also when the run will be finished depends largely on when Tonksi decides to pick up again, I myself won't have any problems finishing before the year has passed if I don't get stalled for to long.
But I think maybe I'll will start working on something else waiting, some other hack perhaps or a 00:23 any%. As soon as I can though this is what will gain my top priority again.

That's a pretty used joke already.
My laptop is still being repaired and I'm going to get a wireless internet connection to it so I can keep it upstairs more, and that will hopefully trigger my will to pick the run again. I'm pretty sure once I optimize the Charge beam room where I'm at I'll be working faster again with charge-Botwoon distance. He'll of course take time and Draygon even more, I'm hoping to finish the run this year too.
The countless new tricks that could be never used on the original game made me go pretty often! The waterballs are simply amazing and save alot of time, Phantoon was insane too, doing a very hard 2 round with almost no serious delays, the Gravity Super strategy was phantastic, but definitely the best of the best was the horizontal enemy room on top of WS. Simply amazing ammo usage to kill all the enemies and pass the many spikes with almost no slowdowns at all! Also very fast and clever refill strategy in the horizontal Maridia room with the many plant-platforms. I clearly see that you have alot of knowledge in SM-TASing already, and know exactly at which spots you can get many refills with minimal slowdowns. I'm also all for the non-deequipping HJ-Boots strategy you used in the water room after WS, it's not worth to spend many blackout screen frames for just a tiny ingame time delay. Everybody who does or plans to do TASes for any SM version, should take a example of this amazing and creative work of yours.
Really incredible job, Cpadolf! This time there are no improvements I could see on the first look over the run. :)
Actually the waterball in the spike WS room I got from Tonskis run (though I don't think he ever showed that part and forward to any one else) and the one just outside of WS was just a modification (saving health and gaining a super) of a waterball he did.
I also hope to be able to completely skip pausescreens in this run, AFAIK there is only one more place where you are suposed to de-equip HJ in maridia but it should be passable with OWUWWJ (god I love that name) and then there is taking of screwattack to pass the zebites which is still passable in a IMO cooler way without doing so. (just hope it does not raise the clock...)
Why did you shoot both of those jumping things if you collected only 1 super from them, I don't know this left me curious. Would've the first one ruined the jump otherwise?
Yeah I think you're the only one I've showed my progress THAT far, at least I don't think I showed it to Kriole. Also, I wish to take none credit from your run, you would've figured all those out yourself too.

Yeah the first one is impossible to dodge without slowing down "really" much, the second best strategy I had for this room made it possible to get both refills (one missile and one super) but was something like 50 frames slower.

That's not neccesarily true, also everyone was loving the waterballs and you where first so I felt that it was not right to take all the credit for them.

Oh, snap! Just say it. You don't love me anymore =(

I said I don't think, but I might've sent my smv to you. ;) Check your folders.
I'd feel like TASing now, too bad I ain't got my laptop. I think my last WIP should end before Draygon. I'm really feeling the charge route IS after all slower, a lot.
lol, I find it funny that everyone thought that putting off the charge beam was slower until Kriole picked up the WS Supers. well, I hope you do well with your TASes.

Well no one had ever given it much thought at that point, people who said that taking the WS super was unnecessary did not know that charge was needed if you skipped it. And while I was route testing I found a much more opportune time to take charge which made me choose to take the WS super. Overall the time difference between the two routes is likely very small and it is not even sure that the supers is the best choice.
You have done well by getting through all that without asking any help or hints. Well, all is written in these 60+ pages which have some actual content about the hack. :)
On another note: Has anyone managed the final escape without speed booster? It would be very hard with regular playing, but with tool-assistance it should be possible. I played around with a cheat file, killed Ridley right after Phantoon and spanked Draygon with Gravity suit on. Skipped the Speed Booster entirely too. It was fun until I realized that I don´t have a chance of surviving the escape.

tbh the only the part I was stuck at for some time was when you're suppose to walljump/ibj to gauntlet. I thought it would be impracticle to take that route but then I realized what SM:I is all about!
It's possible to do without speedbooster, smv attached. It is really unoptimized but I think I can safely say that it is impossible to save the animals, I think if you make it extremely optimized and with perfect steam manipulation saving the animals is about 1 second away.
Though you say it is really unoptimized, I think it looks quite solid already. Well, at least comparing to real time play, even with save states and some slowdown. I admire your skill to produce these clips.
This is a nice realtime / savestateless challenge too, with a little practice.
Yeah well with really unoptimized I mean that I don't test everything very thorough, like placing walljumps and such at the best places and testing several room strategies (in this case especially for the beginning of the 4th room), also at some point I miss some armpumps due to lag which makes turbo L go of sync with the gameflow. The most time I probably lost by not manipulating steam, but still there is not "very" much room for improvement. But once you have TASed the game much you get a good figure of when to do what even if not testing much which makes even unoptimized movies decently fast.
