First, is it possible to skip Varia and still make it to the Screw Attack on one energy tank?  I have only been able to do it with two, but one might be possible if you get some good refills.  If two energy tanks have to be used, which one is the fastest to get?  I was getting the one in Brinstar where you shoot the ceiling and ibj up to it.  There might another one that isn't so out of the way, though.  I haven't done a 100% game yet, so I wouldn't know.

My second question is where can I get a BIOS file to watch movies on VBA?

Lastly, what is the WR for fastest any% time?  My latest run was 45:22, but that was with loads of mistakes, and on my next run I want to get somewhere around 40:xx.

1. I haven't tried anything like that, but if you move fast, you can probably zip through the first room, get lucky by receiving a lot of energy refills from the floating bugs in the next room, then quickly bombing up and out of that room.  As for that Brinstar ET in the ceiling, that's probably the closest and most convenient to get, otherwise you'd have to go to Kraid's Lair first (or get the one near the varia, if you were in the area, but the ceiling ET is probably faster).

2. I don't have a link to it, and it may even be against the rules, but I'm sure finding it isn't too hard.  Sorry. :/

3. Times of under 40 mins are possible and times of 35 or faster seem likely on the easier skills.  A 40:xx is a nice goal, with this in mind. :)  A true world record has yet to be recorded I believe, as emulated runs don't really count anymore (the focus for the better players appears to be 100%, but some pure speedruns will probably follow).

EDIT: I oughta try these things myself before I say anything, but I made it to the door of the second room a few times on one ET but couldn't quite exit.  With more luck with the energy is should be possible, but that extra ET would clinch it.

Alright I made it beyond when the bugs gave up about 50 extra energy... now you just gotta get past the huge creature in the next room. :)
