Anywhere, everywhere
Yep! This game can now join Echoes in it's post hundred glory. This one has an extremely odd way to get it, but it works.

I was messing around, following an idea that Paraxade had mentioned once- getting the nova beam before the fight. You can see it through the glass but can't reach it. So, using the phazon quarry sw (I used moon jump, but I see no reason why it WOULDN'T work) wallcrawl to it and pick it up. Here's the crucial part: kill yourself. You can do a ssj to trigger the fight, but if you do, afterwards nothing happens. If you kill yourself after picking up the nova beam, another one spawns above you. Do the little x-ray puzzle to activate the elevator and trigger the fight. After the fight's over, you'll pick up your second nova beam! Now, you're trapped in, because the wall behind you closed, and since you already "opened" it earlier, you're stuck. Now's the time to kill yourself again! You'll reappear after picking up the second nova beam, and the puzzle is reset. Feel free to leave! :)

When I did this, I had some codes on, but once again, it should work regardless. I had 10% before doing this and 12% after, so the trick worked. The video shows the process in bad quality. Have fun with 101%!

(oh and the AU242 message I got in the video was telling me to get the x-ray visor. I used a code to get the one I used)
Thread title:
haha, nice. too bad the nova beam fight skip didn't seem to work but this is pretty interesting.

You still may be able to skip the fight if you get the beam, ssj up to the fight trigger, then do the puzzle after the fight starts. I don't know if something stupid like a force field door comes up or the doors lock or something.

this is weird and cool. who would have thought you could pick the beam from the sw?

Aw yeah

Aw yeah

Was this still with codes used or without?
Just moon jump so I could do it faster. All of it's possible.

Probably... It's still not nearly as valid of a confirmation as doing 101% entirely codes-free.

It's pretty valid. :P
i'd trust him
or i'll beat you up

better watch out for angry emma
yeah i love that it was emma

lol

A phrase in which context is key!
I was just wishing we still had sigs.

Nice work, anyway.

Where does it spawn you after you kill yourself the first time (after grabbing the first Nova Beam)? Since a second Nova Beam appears when you kill yourself, are you spawned in a position where it's possible to do another wallcrawl and get the second Nova Beam in the same way as the first, then kill yourself again before starting the fight properly, to get 102% this way or more?

EDIT: Never mind, I just watched the video and I see it spawns you in the same place. But why does it say "Upgrade required" at the X-Ray turny thing when you've already got the X-Ray Visor?

No, but it's possible to get infinite percent another way.

The x-ray thing was because of a code, as mentioned in the first post. The spinny thing's contextual part appears even though the wall's gone so you can just go right past it.

Yay for huge bumps.

So parax posted a video for a nova beam wallcrawl that saves several minutes that can be used for a speedrun; it involves using the secret world in phazon quarry, then walking into nova beam while OoB and killing yourself simultaneously. Via a checkpoint, the game warps you in an adjacent room with nova beam equipped.

However, I'm not honestly sure if this validates the in-game timer anymore, since it requires a death. Does the in-game timer keep going after the death, or does it reset back to the last time you hit the checkpoint? I'm assuming the latter, since I've seen the idea of using checkpoints as a way of splitting up segments in segmented runs (Basically segments in segments... which is ughhhh) and if so, where exactly is the checkpoint triggered? If the checkpoint is the moment you get nova beam, then I can still see the in-game timer being valid as, well, basically no time passed at all between getting nova beam (aka hitting the checkpoint), and dying.
Rekameohs, kinda related to what I posted in the 100% route topic, but what happens if you do exactly the same thing, but with the game transitioned on an adjacent room?
So I guess this is the best thread for this. A while ago Uchiha did a 100% speedrun on Trilogy Wii U and he accidentally finished with 101%, having no idea how. He brought this up in Miles's stream chat a couple days ago, and he had the run on video, so someone looked at it and figured out that the extra % happened while he was at the Elysia seed. You can see this for yourself in the video. At 2:26:59, he has 40/100 pickups. At 2:30:19, he has 42/100 pickups. The only place he goes in between is the Elysia Seed to defeat Helios/get Hyper Missiles.

So Miles and I went to check out that room in the editor. As it turns out, there's a dummy Hyper Missiles pickup which is used during Helios's death cutscene. For some reason, instead of making this an actor, they made it an actual Hyper Missile pickup which you can collect, completely separate from the regular pickup. Picture that shows both pickups:

So basically, if you happen to be standing right on top of the dummy Hyper Missiles when you kill Helios, you will get two Hyper Missiles pickups and an extra % increase.

That makes three items that can be duped in Corruption now... and this is definitely the goofiest one in the Prime series >>
I mentioned this before but isn't it theoretically possible to dupe the gearworks missile tank too? IIRC miles/parax said that there are triggers all around the door but theoretically it should be dupe-able if you get it while transitioned to an adjacent room?

i'm still surprised that this dupe happened in trilogy before the original first.

also, it's my first trick found in mp3 yay!
