I worked on this all day, and all that's left is the cleanup runs, where I pick up every item you have to go back for.

All it is is a 100% run, with no sequence breaking, in the recommended order, and picking up each item relatively soon after it becomes accessible.

I didn't waste any time, but it's not a speedrun either, I don't feel like making everything perfect since all I'm doing is showing you where stuff is.

I point out a few alternate ways of doing things without actually taking advantage of them, but only a few times.

I didn't plan out the route on paper, (and I had deleted my old savestates that showed the entire map :() so I've noticed 2 items in Chozodia and Norfair that I could have picked up en route rather than at the end, but in both cases, they're adjacent to passages I have to return to anyway, so there's no need to redo it.  There might be more-but there can't be many.  I'll note them after I finish.

I've already wasted an hour trying to get that energy tank under the boss recorded.  I may just forego the traditional method and start the last movie right where the tank is.  This is what seperates the men from the boys, and I am a boy.  I have to sleep now.

I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Aww there goes my planned project after my homework.  Crying or Very sad
*Possible spoilers*

Since you're going for 100%, Pekod, I have a question about a couple of pickups, namely the power bomb, missle and super missle pickups in Crateria.  The power bomb above and to the left of her ship near the passageway to Brinstar (I assume you can't get into the Brinstar passage if you're already in Crateria since there's not enough run-up space for the boost).  The others are the super missle and missle expansions above and below the upper exit from Chozodia.  I can't maintain speed boost long enough from the Chozodia-Crateria passage to get up to the super missile.  For the missile expansion, I power up the boost, drop down to a platform below the doorway and boost-jump over to the small tunnel where the boost blocks are that lead to the missile.  I can't get into the tunnel to break the blocks.

If you have any insight into this, as I've tried various things for about an hour for the missile alone, it would be appreciated.
i would love to see a 100% run since i was trying for 100%, and i have most of the items (85-90% in my rough estimate) but there are a few that i simply dont know where to get/how to get them - like whats behind that speed wall to the far right of ridley's lair.
Edit:  Oh you need to have automatic frameskip for replays because those little parasites really crunch the cpu somehow.  Problem solved.

Faust, I'll just give hints since I think you can figure it out.

You can now boost in ball form.

You can boost at an angle.

While you are boosting, you will switch back to the running mode if you hit the floor at an angle, and there are angled floor tiles everywhere.  When you go back to the running mode, you can, of course, press down again.

This is actually the section I just got finished recording, every leftover item in Chozodia and Crateria, and then saved in Kraid.  Everything you're attempting will work if you do it properly, including Crateria > Brinstar.  You need that trick if you want to get the two Tourian items immediately after finishing up Chozodia.
but remember, vmus are superior to the actual game.

Thanks a lot Pekod. I missed a bunch of pickups and it turns out all of them use some form of the speed boost (ball or regular).  A couple of the ones in Ridley and the one in Chozodia for the energy tank that used the boost were like, jaw-dropping when I first understood how I had to do them.  I got that shit down to a science now.

I think the puzzles in this Metroid are a lot more interesting than in the past.  Fusion had a couple of doozies in the same vein but Zero takes the cake on creative use of Samus' abilities and the flickerbatting boost.
