Congrats Kridly amazing 100% hard mode time. Wink

It is actually only 1 minute 9 seconds slower than my 100% normal mode run. I am sure your run looks better than my 100% normal mode.

Yeah but 100% normal mode is much easier and faster than hard mode. You are really good 100% speedrunner.

I not can watch that video yet, but i maybe watch your video in next week.
Downloading now...will be taking notes  Wink

Dragondarch.

You maybe can improve Kridly run with single segment.
Kridly lose over one minutes with save points.

I see your SS 100%  with normal looks insane, i not never can beat your run with segmented, because i lose too much time when i save my game and your 100% SS run was pretty perfect without any saves.

Just finished watching it...very nice Krid! Lotsa tricks I hadn't thought of and little time savers.

Your time, had it been single segment, would have been 56:58.

A few comments (since I'm not going to comment on every new trick I saw):
-Really, the most annoying thing I found was how often you were checking your time. Personally, I do much worse if I even look at it once, let alone how many times you seemed to.
-Your Tourian segment seemed a little slow...you seemed a little passive around all those metroids.
-Given that, you actually seemed overly aggresive against the Chozo Ghost.
-Your final escape: a few things. One, I think it's slightly faster to push the bot backwards so there's less backtracking. Two, You only need one recharge on the shine before the top. Three, I don't think charged shots are faster than normal shots given how fast one can fire. The first charged shot while on the way down is worth it, however.

Final note: added MZM Normal 100% single segment to my "In Progress" runs. Gonna use it to practice up for Hard 100% single segment - that and I wanted 55:xx last time and just missed it. I almost want to set my new goal as 54:xx...but we'll see  Wink
Wow ! Congrats! And a great Acid Worm fight!

My best 100% normal are 57.15 and i use 14 savepoints. same skill and single segment my time was almost 55.40.

I say my run was pretty perfectly. I not see way complete game sub 55 minutes. Sub 56 hell yeah it is possible. I think if you mean you speedrun sub 55 single segment you need lot better run than my segmented. If you speedrun single segment you not can use savepoints and you not can have manipulate luck.

Hell yeah i know you are maybe crazy enought, skillful enought and lucky enought.  Good luck if you never ever try improve your time.

yeah, the pausing is bad. i understand the need to pause to check your time to decide if you wish you save or not, but otherwise i'm not a fan of it at all. when i do my ss runs, i refuse to check my time on purpose. i don't like knowing how well i'm doing to affect the way i play. then i start trying to do things at ludicrous speed and things mess up. plus i get all nervous wondering what time i ended up with at the end, which adds excitement.

i also agree with dragondarch's comments about some things being improvable/optimizable.. but hey, sub-hour 100% hard, pretty darn good.
I can't watch this or download it at the moment, but I will as soon as I can.  Excellent job, Kridly.

I do understand the need to pause a lot.  I go for total perfection in my runs (that way they can't be beat), and I often need to see exactly how I'm doing.  If I'm going three seconds slower than my usual in a segment, and continue to the end perfectly, I won't meet my goal time at that part.  Even if the rest of the segment is perfect.  It's actually remarkably easy to lose time but not realize it.  Kridly also seems like a perfectionist to me, so that might be why.  It really is necessary in segmented runs.

I may find a solution to the lag soon, but we'll see about that.

i watched the run today. congrats. it was quite nice. there were some new tricks that impressed me too.
my favorite part of 100% runs is the 1+ minute shinespark part :p
Wow, the run's been up for four days, and I didn't even know it.

About the pausing, I always pause at the end of segments to check the time, to compare it to other attempts, and to decide if  I will save it. Whenever I paused it at a time besides the end, it was probably to wipe my hands on my shirt or something, because when I get an attempt that is going well, I get nervous and my hands would get slick? I had too many attempts ruined by a slip during a wall jump or something like that. I do remember that one time I paused it because of a phonecall though.

Dangit, I can't even download the run because I don't have a comp at home(that's why I was ignorant to my run being up), but in the first two weeks of november we'll be getting a new one.

Well, thanks for the comments guys, I hope it'll help some of you lower your times a bit, and good luck DragonDarch.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the sweaty hands.  It foils my wall jumping, too.  Really annoying.  Sometimes I'm able to wipe them without pausing, because I'm going through a door, or a cutscene's taking place, or whatever.

I'll be especially interested in your 100% hard SS, Dragondarch (assuming you do one).  You're going to pretty much perfect a long 100% SS.  If you improve your SS 56:11 normal, it will be just about impossible to beat, segmented.

I finally watched Kridly run.

Congrats, your run looks insanes.

I like especially your second last segments and Ridley lair segment.

Your last escape was pretty worse actually it is 6 second slower than my best escape, but anyway your run was amazing job. Wink
