Guys, the TAS of Metroid Fusion is complete and published. Feel free to download http://bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/movies.cgi?id=497 it as Im currently seeding (and will do so as long as I can) it with my 100/100 connection.
Thread title:
In order to avoid me subconsciously copying his run, I won't watch it. I still want to keep my own touch in this thing.
I prefer DF's run.
This guy made some ridiculous mistakes.

Er...care to specify?
Well Megafrost, the author of the finished 0% run didn't know it was possible to hit the core-X twice twice or more. Some rooms he gets through need lot of improvement, for example when he comes back to the room before the nav room after getting the bombs, he does not take the right path like Dragonfangs to bomb the wall and get to the navigation room, but he takes the left one, which is obviously slower.
These things surprised me, and I'm sure that was what Raccoon Sam meant by ridiculous mistakes.
To my opinion, I like DF's one better, since DF's one does not aim for the fastest time but for style and entertainment; I consider fastest time more pointless than entertainment, since everybody say about a TAS "It is made for entertaining purposes". Lots of tricks made me laugh (Yeah that sure is weird but it is true), and the boss fights are the best, although normally they are the most annoying.
But I did not despise that 0% run, it was okay for me.

I've mirrored this run for those who don't want to use the torrents:

I can't get the sodding clip to play :(

Any idea what codec I'm missing? If it's the  h264 codec, I could have sworn I had it with my QT7 download...  :?

It's obviously slower? that's news to me. Bombs take a long time to blow you know. The left path is actually slightly faster (somewhere around 10 frames) but I opted for the right one because a) it's different and b) vertical shafts are fun!

>_>
Really?! OMG... Damn so yours is slower... Well it really looked faster so whatever...

Which is what really matters in an entertainment-based run Wink
Apart from double core-x shots, I also failed to use the main deck space boost trick. A few rooms could be better optimized. For example, the very first vertical shaft can be scaled at least 32 frames faster than I did.

To tell you the truth, I would've been surprised if that run didn't have flaws. The first version is usually never the best. I'll look into making a better run in the future if someone else doesn't.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
but megafrost did do a few good things like: that jump extend he did at the start of BOX

Fairly sure it's H264. I'd recommend getting ffdshow, it takes care of most codec troubles.

As far as obvious mistakes go, I didn't see any. I wondered about the bombing of that wall (and also the second time around after power bombs are obtained), but if dfangs says it's slower I'll take his word for it. The "Why is he waiting a split second" kind of delays are most likely all for luck manipulation, although one occurance made me wonder, since the next room didn't have any enemies, but I can't recall where that happened anymore :$

I found the actual gameplay parts very entertaining, shame Fusion has a crapload of dialogue and running around in the elevator area, but I guess that can't be helped.

Yeah, just like the ventilators, I found them impressive.
And yeah my example was wrong but now I remember the shortcut on the main desk. Well good luck with your 100% run Megafrost.
i want more to see a 100% then a 0% but still the 0% is really nice
i watched about 75% of it and is pretty nice.
keep the good work :)

Try this: http://www.free-codecs.com/FFDShow_download.htm or this: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ffdshow.cfm
i found ffdshow bad, but that my opinion..

It's really good. Helps fix runs that are too dark :P
