How is the DS d-pad in doing the down-up-left combo?
If anyone is still trying this I would like to say that I see a 1-3 frame error rate, as in you can shine up to 3 frames earlier than the frame perfect version.  If anyone would like to test this theory be my guest.

I'm not sure, but this may make it easier for the godly people.
Any way of wiring video and sound from a GBA:SP to RCA? I'd give this a shot, elyscape sent me his cart last week...
it is known that there is some inefficiency in the video ... problem is, it's not enough atm. :/

Speaking of which, shouldn't most any % runs skip it now? Rolling Eyes

Skip it in an any % run?? But I thought it's nearly impossible on GBA or Ds??

very nice.
Thanks. Megaman's colors are based on M2K2's default colors.

Oh...  Rolling Eyes
I'm too naiv to be in such forums...  :?
l'appel du vide
Dammit.

Anyone still trying this?  I've been playing the cart for a couple hours now, but I can only reach the top of the room.

Any thought on if this would be any easier on the Micro?  I haven't tried one, so I'm not sure if the D-pad is any different.

http://nate.metroid2002.com/attempt_02_mq.avi (medium quality, for those who can't play 60 hz)

that was about as close as i got. like 10 frames off iirc, so 1/6th of a sec i guess. dawgs has been closer iirc.

Shame on you ED!

I've come a little closer to 0%, 6 frames or so off. I haven't had much more progress than that despite several tries later than this vid. I may or may not attempt it again.

Never attempted on console yet. And I don't plan on it until I do it on emu first.
I remember someone brought up the idea of taking apart the gameboy to accomplish this. Would anyone know where a 3-slot skrewdriver (or whatever its called) could be found? I am quite sure this would work, although it would still be very hard.
why would anyone go to all that effort for nothing? (it's still raped/cheated ... and it's already been done raped.)
i dont see how this could be humanly possible  Shocked
First post
I got an idea (that would hardly be humanly possible, but I think we don't have much of a choice.).
I saw a TAS of Metroid Zero Mission ("for peaceful applications only, of course, please understand"). The thing is, I saw that man playing, gaining a LOT of time by doing a trick that takes the jumping trick into a new level.
-Grab a corner or a ledge ("power grip" you see?)
-Do immediately after this a jump like a wall jump (like all beginners do around the first boss, but faster)
-Turn to the direction you want to go, you may find yourself instantaneously from "under the corner" to "on the platform" if you alternate left-right right-left correctly.

Right, I saw this on MZM and I can say that Samus becomes so fast that the camera can barely follow her. Yeah, in a wall jump there is a little "stop" time (5 frames or something, not like Super Metroid) whereas when you do the trick I explained earlier, you don't have that waiting time.
It could work on fusion, but I need to tell informations:
- Of course you need to slow down the game, or to be really well trained to do this, 'cause you must grab the corner at a "ludicrous speed" and do the same for jumping/alternating direction (3 frames or a little more I think).
- I'm pretty sure that during the trick, to change direction is possible, since when you climb on a wall (Like in the silo reactor, or in PYR when getting out of the boiler), you can do some kind of wall jump, that makes you gain time. But I'm not sure that the ledge jump takes you higher than a wall jump, like MZM. It will be useful for a M2k2 player to try it out.
- Of course it is veeerryy useful to master this since it makes you gain time for everything, although the game becomes hard to follow with human eyes... :? . I also think that some people here won't approve this. I got my reasons to tell you this : I see that the site does neither provide anymore segments of the MZM 9% speedrun nor some of the Fusion 1% speedrun; and I don't want to see any speedrunner being discouraged by the purpose of Tool-Assisted-Speedruns or some cheating thing. So please, even if it's difficult, could anyone please not give up and do a 0% speedrun? I want soooo much to see it, just like a lot of users here.
If you didn't understand the trick (my native language is not English), please ask me, I'll tell it again. Thank you.
Wassup Dawgs is only ten frames away, I believe.  But I'm not sure whether he's going frame-by-frame or if he's doing it legite, but just on an emulator for frame counting.  And trust us, he hasn't given up trying to do a zero percent run.

If I recall correctly, it takes three frames in Fusion for a walljump before you begin to move away from the wall.  I could be wrong, though.  I haven't frame-by-frame'd since before 1.8 of the Visualboy Advance came out.
Well if you need to have some clear ideas about what I said, and if you have a little time to spend : the TAS that does the special trick in MZM, but now that I saw something, I'm not sure it would work, although maybe if you want to do a wall jump on the left wall, then the player might be able to do the trick on the upper ledge.
Thanks for the info DeathNoble, it's great speedrunners didn't give up, because I gave up speedruns Rolling Eyes .
EDIT : Oh, and about the frames, I wanted to way something like "it's faster" so if you're not sure about this, then watch the TAS please.

No, it is impossible well AFAIK to (go the reverse way from the alt. secret message to get to the diffusion room early).  I wasted around 3 hours ad 1100 missles trying.

No it's not, although it's MUCH harder. I have done it on several occasions (as a quicker way to progress from having saved with the secret message). However, you can't access the room because it's a level 4 security door, and even if you could get in, it probably wouldn't let you get the download. However, doing this and running out of missiles leads to an 'AQA trap', from which the only way to escape is either dying or a reset. And it's supposed to be impossible to get stuck...tch.

Anyway, on-topic, the links no longer work, it comes up with 404 error.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
There's no possible way of getting stuck from lack of missiles, ANYWHERE. The Powamp room has a room with enemy's to the right, and a recharge room to the left

Also, I'll make another video if ya want

It may not have been obvious, but I was pointing out that it is possible to get to the right hand side between rescuing the critters and going to get PB's. You have ice missiles, but no diffusions. And, IIRC, the room full of enemies is blocked by a level 4 security door, is it not? Get me a map of that room, and I will show you (as I currenttly have no way of making vids).

And yes, I would appreciate another vid of the Bob skip.

EDIT: Has anyone done a Hard 1% run yet? I have decided to get that $100 Jap fusion off ebay (I was getting desperate), and should have it within 2 weeks. And I apologise if the reason you are on probation is because of the ROM link you gave me when I didn't make it clear that I wanted a legit copy.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
The reason I'm on probation is SPAM in the post ya pics topic (and probably insubordination), and I just said about flash cards, people would Google for their ROMs anyway

1% Hard is just 1% with 3 less missiles and worse luck

Sorry I missed that part about the red door Embarassed

I'll get the bob skip video soon, just as soon as I've beaten Nettori
