What can I do to ZM and MF with a hexeditor that interdpth didn't feel like implenting in to Double Helix.

Well...

ALWAYS BACKUP IF YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
This guide will have a general section, and a specific ROM

Probably geared more towards ZM

How do I manually edit SpriteSets?

Ok, spritesets are easy!

First you get your spriteset number you can find this with the spriteset editor. 

Then you do this formula

For fusion - SpriteSetNo*4 + 0x79ADD8

For ZM     - (SpriteSetNo * 4) + 0x75F31C

I use the popular roms. 

Next you'll see 4 bytes, if you don't know what a pointer is...
you'll see something like this

Now reverse these 

you'll have

Take the 8 off and go the address, you'll now be in the spriteset yay!

What's it all mean?

Each sprite in the table takes two bytes.

Byte 1 tells it what sprite it is
Byte 2 tells where to load it's palette and graphics in RAM 

and it reads until both byte 1 and byte 2 are 0 then the table is done

there can be a total of 16 spriteslots
but I really don't reccomend that 

Just use a couple, I was going to put an auto corrector in, but didn't feel like coding the functions for it, sorry. If your sprite won't insert correctly via DH close DH, go to do this method of insertion if the sprite is big and doesn't look right in game, try deleting a sprite entry. 


Area Connection Time.
durrr what's an area connection

Well kids, an area connection allows you to traverse through elevators and the like

It works like this

How they work well that's simple

Say you want to connect area 0 to area 1 with door 5 in area 0 and door 10 in area 1
