Post preview:Borrowed Dragonball Xenoverse and played it a bit with a friend last night. Who thought It would be a good idea to lock the versus mode behind some solo player missions? Oh well.
Although in genreal it sure feels like they didn't care about the offline versus in this game. Real bummer. The game is a step back towards the PS2 era of Budokai Tenkaichi games, which is good because the games on PS3 weren't as fun, but it's still not quite there. The controls are just reprehensive. Guard on L1? Going down on L3? wtf. The combat itself is otherwise ok. It's Budokai Tenkaichi somewhat simplified. As for the single player mode, I can't say that I'm a fan. The combat is a bit too repetitive for that. It might get better later on when you get more items and skills though. However the part where you create and customize your own character is dope. We made a pink Frieza with a long nose and Cell-like chin, and then gave him sunglasses. The guy looked so hilarious we had quite a blast with the game just thanks to that.
But nevermind the single player. It's really too bad the offline multiplayer mode is so lacking. There's only 1 arena, no music, no character win or starting quotes and animations, no annoucner and you play both on 1 screen so you can't move towards and away from your opponent as freely as you could in the PS2 games. You can't can't make more than 1 custom character from the start so it's sad we couldn't create some other hilarious guy to have our pink Frizea fight against. :(
I would probably buy this for 10 bucks or so. No more.
Post preview:Yeah that happens to me a lot as well. The first time you play an area you're super careful, and then you get too cocky the next time and just keep on dying lol
What was I thinking going into that damn prison. I couldn't stop because then I would forget my way around the next time I played, so I'm up at 3am! Damn you, Demon's Souls. At least I only died once on the level. Boss was cool.
That's pretty much the exact same experience I had with that place lol
The special key is for a cell with an NPC inside in 3-1. Don't ask me for the way though.............
Post preview:The sill comes into play later on when replaying for the Xth time. But yeah, the games are not very hard once you know what to do. It's all about being careful and using your wits.
Post preview:Why? Horror games are great on a handheld in bed at night with the lights out. When I play horror games on console I'm more inclined not to play them very late at night, which makes them less spooky.
Maybe it's just me but spooky stuff affects me more and more the later it gets. Even past the point where it's already completely dark outside.
Post preview:I was briefly considering to get Revelations, but then I remembered what a friend told me about it. Apparently it's not really worth playing. :| No idea how you think it's really good Tooz. Isn't more than half the game running around in straightforward areas in daylight with a partner who keeps talking to you? Doesn't sound very fun. Especially not if you expect a horror game with some kind of tense atmosphere.
Post preview:Gotta say I don't like the art direction for female characters they've been using in RE games lately. Claire in Revelations 2 looks like a guy and Rebecca looks just worse than she did in the original of RE 0.
Post preview:I'm really just curious so far as to how it's going to end up. If it's like REmake I'll gladly buy it day one. But I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be a huge turd.
Just started up Bloodborne for my own personal playthrough for the first time. During the character select, the girlfriend took over the controls to design the character. She spent a solid hour working on different faces so I took a break to go out and get some food and supplies since she said she was going to go to bed early tonight anyway. I came back and to my surprise she was actually playing it on her own.
Admittedly it took us awhile to find the Lever to bring down the ladder (and unfortunately after pulling the lever we ran away to open the gates, only to find that we were supposed to wait for the ladder to come down). After that, it was pretty easy, until we got to the first big group of torch-bearing dudes. She sorta wasted the pebbles before this, and we only had 6 cocktails. She tried her best, but unfortunately was over-taken by the group, and we lost about 1700 blood echoes and we no longer have our supply of items. This frustrated her quite a bit and decided "I didn't like how I made that character anyway" an decided we would start fresh tomorrow
The part with looots of enemies in a relative open area? There's multiple way to get through there safely. It's not a big geal imo.
Don't worry about your blood echoes. This early, the ones you get are nearly worthless. Also you can't use them to level up for quite a while anyways. When I played I ran into the first boss at base level and lost 8k blood echoes tat I accumulated while scavenging pretty much the whole place.
Post preview:Character tendency and your form (body/spirit) affect your damage output. So yeah that's probably why those enemies now take one more hit.
Post preview:There's another boss where magic spells come in even more handy. Putting some points in magic and int won't hurt you on a first playthrough.
Post preview:Welcome to world tendency. When you die in body form, the tendency of the world you're in will shift towards black. When you beat a boss, that world's tendency will shift to white. When you play online, you'll be assigned some kind of global world tendency that is affected by the actions of a pool of players currently playing online. When a world's tendency is very close to white or pure white, some things change. In 1-1, the dragons leave (and you can loot the place near the hill) and a gate opens near the very beginning of the stage. Once opened (happens automatically when you enter the stage during white world tendency) the gate stays open btw, even if world tendency shifts back to black. So you can just go back to 1-1 and look for it. Going along the bridge towards the main gate where the boss was you can find it somewhere to your left.
There's also character tendency. White and black, again. It goes black when you kill another player or a non hostile NPC. It goes white when you kill a black (actually red) phantom named NPC (which you can only encounter in black tendency) or an invading player.
In black world tendency a demon larvae spawns somewhere in each world. Killing it will net you a special kind of soul you need to upgrade certain weapons and will shift world tendency towards white.
Don't worry if you don't understand any of this. That's normal until you've read guides about it like a hundred times.
Post preview:Oh yeah. I forgot about the bunch of miners with the fire things.
It's about whether you're holding your weapon in one hand or in both hands. Press the triangle button to switch. When two-handing your weapon you're able to deal more damage, stagger enemies more easily and are less prone to getting interrupted during your own attack. The downside is the L1 block with a weapon in 2H mode is usually worse than a shield. And you can't parry.
Post preview:I think the long sword has a piercing attack. All weapons have 4 attack animations. 1H R1, R2 and 2H R1, R2. They aren't necerssarily all slash pierece or blunt attacks. Some swords have slash animations and pierce animations depending on what you press.
If you're willing to buy lots of arrows a bow is pretty effective against the miners too.
