... yeah. This is kinda a note to myself to look into this more, since right now I need to work on a project due tomorrow. But if anyone wants to play with this...

Go to Maridia, two rooms past Botwoon / three rooms before Draygon. It's a vertical shaft with a couple mochtroids, and a secret passage to the right with the Oums.

Use the frozen mochtroid glitch to get into one of the grapple boxes on the left side of the screen. Equip the grapple beam, and push yourself out of the room with it. Go left a few blocks, then fall as far as you will(you'll hear Samus land eventually. And you'll be able to jump). Then jump and go right, and fall as far as you can. You'll see Samus falling this time. When Samus lands again, you can then walk off the left edge and fall some more, then jump and fall to the right, etc. etc.
Well, do this about 5-8 times, then use the x-ray scope. The game will be uberly glitched up. Keep going afterwords, and eventually you'll hit a door block, and hopefully wind up in the room to the left, but you'll be outside the room again. Hopefully, you'll be able to jump left, and shoot the door open. Equip the grapple beam and shoot the door open (there's a hidden door you can't easily shoot with normal beams), and then walk into the door. You'll be in Botwoon's room, and back inside the room. The game will also be semi-reset. You can probably get different results depending on *where* you use the x-ray scope. When I did it, I actually triggered some kind of time-bomb, and the game froze when time was up. >_>

I know, there aren't that many details, but I just stumbled on it right now and I don't really have time to experiment right now.

Also I need to check to see what it does on console... I'm at college right now and my SNES isn't available. >_< Unless someone else wants to try it, but I make no promises about save files.

I can make a vid of the entire thing tonight (in about 7 hours), right now I need to get ready for a class. I already uploaded one movie of playing around with the colors, though. ZMV format.

You have to go down about 22 screens before it'll do anything, the movie starts out at the exact height the colors begin glitching up. Feel free to stop and play around yourself.

What do you use to play .zmv files? I don't have anything that can (I have media player, real one, and quick time).

zmv files are Zsnes's(emulator) basic movie files. Just as vm0/vmv files are to VBA.

Uploaded a movie showing how to do it, and a guaranteed way to get out without getting stuck in a wall. It's kinda difficult without practice though, since you have to rely on sound and timing.
The way I get back though, you *have* to pass through the large grapple room early in Maridia, because I'm hitting a block that is made by leftover data from that room. So if you load a save from just before Draygon or something, you'll have to backtrack all the way to the large grapple room, then come back to the mochtroid room.

Nothing was reset in the movie, though. I've commonly seen the minimap overwritten, and I've once seen some items reset (and I noticed a grey door turned blue without me ever completing the conditions to open it), but not much else was changed.
Minimap resets:

Rename the file the same name as your rom, and choose MISC -> MOVIE OPN., but open the rom first.

I do that...but dammit...only plays the music and the first screenshot....!! GRR...I don't get how to make it work...is it that I have a different version of ZSNES then it was recorded on?

I just doublechecked. The first part works on ZSNES 1.42, but Samus doesn't get out of the room. On ZSNES 1.36, it works perfectly.
Although, the version shouldn't matter when you load it...

Sniff.... Why does everyone hate mac users. (No ZSnes for mac).

Somebody really should export them to Mov, or Mpeg, or Wmv.
