Ok, I'm working on a new different 100% route from my old one, and I'm sure both of them are outdated, but yeah.  After beating Crocomire and getting the grappling beam, I usually ascend the red Brinstar Shaft all the way to the top to get up to Criteria and then the Wrecked Ship.  But I decided to try something new and instead of going all the way up the red shaft I go left and clear out blue Brinstar.  It took me a little bit to figure out how to get the 2 missle packs after the invisible floor room without the gravity suit but I did.  My next problem was the super missle pack to the right of the old Tourian shaft.  I decided I wanted to skip the ice beam until I go past those gates for Ridley, that way I could get the beam then just retrace a few rooms and powerbomb down.  But I figured out you can kill those annoying yellow blobs that you normally freeze to shinespark up to the missle by using 3 powerbombs.  So I did that and jumped over their pits and shinesparked up.  The whole reason I wanted to do this was so I would have more life for the shinespark across the lake to Wrecked Ship, and then descend the red shaft on the way out of Wrecked Ship to get those things.  Correct me if I'm wrong (and I could already be wrong by a few things by now) but isn't there some little exit from Maridia that puts you out of the right wall of the red shaft?  I was thinking just entering Maridia like that on the way down and maybe save some time.  Obviously I would save the rest of Brinstar til after Ridley (which actually might be really hard now that I think about it).  But yeah, and ideas?

Ok my Meridian entrance plan fails...  There's one of those gates with a super missle thing on the other side.  Yeah, any chance its still faster?

Best 100% speedrun route (without going into specifics about individual missile/pb/sm/reserve/etanks would probably go something like this:

(no point listing route up to Norfair) --> high jump --> speed booster --> wave beam --> ice beam -->red brinstar PBs --> Wrecked Ship --> green/pink Brinstar cleanup --> Maridia --> Grappling Beam --> Lower Norfair --> X-Ray scope --> Blue Brinstar/Crateria cleanup --> Tourian

Ok thanks, I'm going to start waiting longer to get the grappling beam now, thanks.

Ok, so I started the thing where you leave the Grappling Beam until later, but I'm stuck.  How can I get the energy tank in the wrecked ship where you have to jump on those platforms over that big lake without using the grappling beam on the last one?

I like Big Butts and I can not lie
You could either Damage Boost or do a well timed jump (maybe a Wall-Jump after) extra_smug

And what exactly would you damage boost off of?  The only things in the Wrecked Ship etank room that can hurt you are underwater.

Ok, thanks a lot.  Seems like I should've figured that one out on my own.  I'm at Draygon now, I've never beaten him without the grapple beam  Embarassed  or have even tried.
