Ice Beam is useless. The only other route I see is from Tallon to the Mines, which is loaded with ice doors except for the elevator room. If somehow you could enter a secret world there and wallcrawl over to Phazon Processing Center, then you shouldn't have a problem getting to Magmoor. Everything about the route checks out from there, until you come out in Transport to MC South in Phendrana. How do you get out? afaik you can't enter the SW in Transport Access without Charge Beam. Unless there's some other way out, you're trapped in those two rooms.
EDIT: Whoops. There's a PB block in Workstation Tunnel, so you'd have to wallcrawl to Elite Control instead and make a detour to get PBs first. Not a problem if everything else worked.
finally, i jumped randomly from the top of the door, straight up, and tol appeared. i don't have a vid of this because of how sudden it happened
I could've told you you could do that :P Usually walking onto the other secretized door and jumping transitions you to the next room in Prime 1. It's a lot easier and more consistent than most other methods. Additionally, rather than floating up for an hour you could've tried aether jumping... it's a lot harder in prime 1 since if you mess up you can't strafe back, but that shouldn't be much of a problem if you can set yourself up in a corner, if you get what I mean (prolly not).

I remember a time when using secret worlds for anything wasn't even considered. Now they're all that's left.
I don't see all the anti-SW bias, personally, but eh.
Random other idea if you're still looking for ways to skip Varia: try going into the Burning Trail SW and going over to where you start taking heat damage, and see if being out of bounds and far enough from the level prevents you from taking damage. I think it starts hurting you based on which room you're in so I don't think this'll work, but meh, something to try. alternately... try infinite speed bugging the wave beam doors. have fun trying to navigate magmoor with a busted arm cannon and absolutely no visibility, though...
also - using the back entrance to Magmoor from the mines just won't work, unless you've got a way to get into a SW in the elevator room. There are tons of wave doors near the start of the mines.

i know that. it's the method i use to load every room. however, tower of light is notorious for being an incredibly difficult room to load; it won't load every time like most others. i jumped on the door probably hundreds of times before it finally loaded.

djgrenola mentioned that, but i didn't feel like learning to aether jump (particularly because it's harder in prime), and floating is incredibly easy. i just did something else for an hour.

you weren't around at the time.

you're right about the last part: the heat damage is caused by the name of the room that the map says you're in, whether or not you're actually in or anywhere close to that room. people have tried the burning trail sw before and haven't had any luck, but it's something i'd still like to play around with when i get the time.
I have been thinking about this alot. Is it possible to get to Morph Ball Bombs without Missiles? I mean, get in the secret world in the first room in Chozo Ruins, I think its Main Quarry..? Anyway, get in that Secret World, and wallcrawl all the way there. Maybe this could get us Morph Ball. That would drop a percent. Has anyone tested this?
dunno then. seems like it was easier for me to load tol when i had wave too.
I've recently done it on a file that didn't have wave, it doesn't make any difference... I found it easy both ways so not sure why you had trouble with it :/

main quarry is phazon mines, the chozo ruins room is main plaza. bombs without morph ball has been attempted before, IIRC nobody was ever able to figure out how to get Burn Dome to load so you get stuck there. :/

You start off morphed, but then you can't morph again.
I did this SW already, but i got a Black Screen of Death (BSoD) if i entered the high room with the WB. :s (This was done on GCN, Metroid Prime Players Choice PAL vers.)
Paraxade went on a Wave Beam-less adventure a few years ago (picking up Ice and Plasma at least). WB skip was known to be futile then, but could it be taken farther now? IIRC the obsticles were some rooms in the lower mines and Prime. Since then we at least have a new SW in the mines that Sparky found.
