lost 5(!!) seconds in magmoor workstation, but the rest of the segment is about as fast as i could hope it'd be. i recommend ending your watch after samus leaves geo core, but the choice is yours and yours alone! i'm ready to move on anyway!
some notes:
- you can dash to the floating platform in phen shorelines using the gate on the face of the ledge you jump to, but you have to stand on the very edge of the ledge, with about 0 inches of leeway, so i jumped to the platform instead. - i got that ghetto jump in the room before boostball from zoid. sometimes you can get to the door before it's done loading. - leaving boost ball room, you do a side-jump from the floating platform, then do a dash with your second jump. you can sometimes get onto the ledge with the ice guy. - in workstation, there's supposed to be a standable ledge somewhere on the wall that i missed, then you dash from the pirate to the door. you can actually dash to said ledge, but it's really tricky when going fast (though it doesn't matter if you mess up the easy way). - finally, i think i severely undertimed one part later on, but we'll see... i hope to get a slightly faster run done by end of summer or at least near the beginning of the semester
awesome job on a (relatively) long segment. very impressed by the dash jumps ... i would have never thought to use the one in the sheegoth fight though i'm sure that's been done in runs before. also don't think i've seen that geo core route before; very cool.
no idea how you didn't take damage on that last fire spout. ;)
tbob: if you shoot (or bomb) a door but get far enough away before it opens, it will stay darkened, ready to open. the loading spot for that door is just a hair past the start of the first bombable block, so if you time it well you can do that. (Also, the room never unloads because prime always keeps two rooms loaded at once).
sabata: done
paraxade: i actually paused the game and was ready to quit, but then i realized i could save it in spectacular fashion. =p
Beautiful is the only word I can use to describe your run Sparky. If you finish this run - regardless of the end time - I will genuinely paypal you some money in appreciation (especially for that jaw-dropping wallcrawling scene on IBBF
Beautiful work Sparky, beautiful. Keep it up and I'll get you some - well deserved - magazine publicity for this.
Your ability to adapt to, and perfect all different techniques and situations leaves me in utter awe. I don't really like to kiss ass on the internet, but my god, you have got to give credit where credit is due. That last segment literally made me give up any hope of ever being able to obtain the WW; my one and only true goal in life. Thanks a lot Sparky. ;)
thanks guys. @ mills: thanks for the sentiment but i think if i started doing this for money it would lose the appeal. =p
also, has anyone confirmed if you can kill mp form 2 in three rounds without thermal visor? i don't see why not, but i'm gonna have to make sure before next segment.

Technically, there is nothing from preventing you doing so. At least not that I'm aware of. I do think it would increase your number of attempts of it though, as it reduces your level of control over the fight.
I'm just amazed at the speed run so far. The only negative thing about me doing this, is I have the Player's Choice version, so no scan dashing for me. XD
Also, I'm trying to skip alot of items, like everything skipable, except for missiles and ET's. Like the Boost Ball, Spider, AND SJ. But I'm not sure if thats possible considering the Plasma Beam is needed, though I'm not sure you can skip that. Take hours on Metroid Prime if he changes his vulnerability to fire, LOL
EDIT:: I'm also curious about getting a 5th energy tank before entering Magmoor Caverns. Like there's an extra ET in the room where you fight Chozodian Ghosts, and when you defeat them, you'll be able to reach an energy tank. Skipping the spiderball just to get this, I would like to see, yet I don't think it is possible to do... If anyone has a flaw, I'd like to hear it as well.
did some testing and first of all, looks like the wallcrawl to phazon elite is indeed better than fighting thardus, and also looks like phazon beam does less damage to prime2 if you are not locked on (ie: no thermal visor). can somebody else confirm that for me? i might just suck at fighting prime2.
@sanogidhgois: not sure if it works in player's choice, but by getting floaty jump (by doing something weird in the secret world while fight flaahgra, you'll have to look elsewhere for details) you can get the energy tank in the room you're referring to. also, you aren't gonna skip plasma in your run, but sj may or may not be possible in pc version, not sure.
