I read that Super Metroid will be available on Virtual Console on the Wii. Now, from what I read, the games on VC are generally unaltered, but it mentioned that some might recieve a progressive scan/high resolution or whatever treatment or somthing. Do you think they're going to mess with the game in any way when they release it on VC? to make it less breakable/speedrunable or whatever?

imo ... they're too lazy. there are no real game-killing ones like in metroid prime, either.

I'd say there's one or two game-killing glitches in Super, although not in the way you were probably thinking of. Then again, it's less likely they have the source code lying around.

BTW Space-Time is the only one that works differently on emulator rather than console, and not Murder Beam, right? Be interesting to see how close Nintendo's own emulator gets.

Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
I can think of a number of game-killing glitches... but none that are likely to happen on accident. :P

Right, space/time beam differs widely. I'm pretty interested in VC's response to it as well.

If anything they should just add the abililty to assign aim up/down to a face button, instead of only shoulder buttons.

I don't think they'll alter anything.
Maybe a minor tweak to fix the STB, making it unselectable.

my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
the progressive scan/high resolution thing is inherent to the hardware that outputs the video signal. there's no need to alter the ROM to enable 480p (remember how the games look much cleaner on emulator) since the Wii hardware is the one responsible of that.

but, yesterday i read the notes in the VC channel in the Wii and there was a mention of an update option for VC games. that means they might update games after they are released to add stuff or something (60 fps for N64 games probably) and.. they might remove the glitches too!!

60 fps for n64 games would be a sight to see.

Heh, given that most games use frame rate for a bunch of timing issues and stuff, I wouldn't hold your breath... upgrading frame rate without breaking anything would be hardcore.

:P

I've already got the Collector's Edition (ooh, shiny)...however, me controller is busted and I've lost teh expansion pak.  My predicament is hardly difficult to remedy, of course, but I'm lazy and want 480p.  Probably need to get me a Wii as well...

Crashing at my bro's place to play with his Wii will have to suffice for the time being...
