Am I the only one who finds it funny that rules are being posted in English in a non-English forum?

Can we post in fictional languages, like I've done below?

Double cheeseburgers have lots of calories.

EDIT: Can anybody actually read that?

No, you may not post in fictional languages. That's stupid.

well, probably all languages were made up by people at some point ... and in some sense are fictional that way (of course the term is meaningless if there are no nonfictional languages to contrast them).

Well, true. I'd call Klingon a real language, even though it's not an official language of any country. But stuff like leetspeak isn't a language, and if one person makes one up, that's not real either. Get a bunch of people to know it well, then I'll call it a language.

A lot of people do know it well.  So, yes or no?  How about a vote (by the mods/admin)?

EDIT: I've attached an attachment that shows what the post up there looked like, if you couldn't see it.

Uh... I could see it just fine. It says "Double cheeseburgers have lots of calories."

And go ahead and post a topic; I'll just go ahead and ignore it.

Well, some people don't know that you can quote a post to see really small text or fonts they don't have.

I didn't need to quote that, and I doubt most other people would, either.

Well, it says in the help page that
Quote:

Only fonts installed on the user's computer will be displayed

, and I don't know many people that have that font installed.

Regardless, how is that considered "posting in a different language"?

This is in English, and this is not.  Two different languages: English, and Sindarin.

Sindarin is a language, it's actually not in any part of the font name, but it's a language.

Quote from nate:

Anyone can read it.  Only some people can understand it.  It's a language created by J. R. R. Tolkien, (I'm pretty sure you know of him) and spoken by the Sindar, a type of elf.

EDIT: Oh, snap! I completely misread the date of that last post. Any mod can feel free to kill this one.

It's called the international forum though, I wouldn't think that literary languages count.

How many people do you expect to have that font and understand it on this forum anyway? You might as well post in wingdings, it's as much typing in another language as your Sindarin.
In that case, the Mr. Saturn font might as well count, it'd be more widely recognized to boot.

If you insist on Sindarin your best be would be to romanize it, if for no other reason than to ensure that it doesn't come out in Times New Roman.

Only Sindarin is a language, and wingdings isn't.

typing english in a sindarin font is the same thing as typing english in wingdings.

I kinda figured that this board is here to make things more comfortable for those that don't speak English primarily, it also allows people to practice using a second language they don't get to use often.
