Yeah, maybe I will do it again someday. But I don't really know, because I hate MP2.

hm, that's quite odd. fist time i hear someone who has a kickass time that really hates the game.

or do you hate it because of too much running?

Nah, hate it because of the Dark World. Well, I don't really hate it, but it's not my favorite. I've made most of the Metroid games under 3 hours, so I was trying to finish my Primes run. But I don't know if I will do it again.

well, i beat the game in the trilogy pack

it was a good thing i had played this game a lot 2 months ago since i had all scans fresh in my mind. now i'll read the logbook to rest and regain strength for mp3.

edit: rofl. i checked my mp2 gc saves and my best 100% all scans time there was slower.

Wow. Congrats, on Hypermode difficulty ! I couldn't do it. My best shot was the hard mode and I can't get through Emperor Ing.

i did it in veteran which is normal on gc. that hypermode message was because you unlock it when you beat the game.

Oh...god, I though you did it on Hypermode ! For the 101%, did you make use of the Missile Launcher glitch ?

yep. normal ghettos didn't work because their height was toned down but i found a new trick to make the ghetto get more height. lock onto something that's far away and do a ghetto jump.
the trick's been more useful in mp1 after the discovery though...

heh i didn't expect it but i SBed the game's order and beat mp2 on hypermode before mp1.

4:20 hypermode 100%

battling the emperor ing's 3rd form was quite intense. it was a long time since i had fun beating him in non-SA fights.
the most troublesome bosses were boost guardian and alpha blogg. retro didn't rebalance anything since these fuckers are still cheap bastards.

edit: damn, a triple post willl look bad at this point so i'll have to edit in my latest time:

2:37 normal 40%

thanks to the SW in the elevator that leads to TAS, i got an early PB and gained a load of time in several places. i could get all of sanctuary's items without going out, got the sky temple key right after spider guardian, used the faster route when leaving sanctuary, skipped a lot of the dark rooms to reach grapple guardian since i could get to him just after the key i got after gravity boost and picked up the main PB when getting the other sky temple keys. i also reached jump guardian backwards like in the gc version. the final bosses' fights were much better than in my test run thanks to the extra ammo expansion i got.
sub 2:30 is guaranteed with this new route change.
now i'm going to record some more sw vids.

trilogy version, natural route, 44%, normal difficulty, 6:08.

It was fun to play it again in the order it was meant to be played but with the new controls. I got hopelessly lost several times in areas that I nearly always skip on the GC version.

I just did a couple of  casual runs of an any% secret world assisted route on the GameCube, getting the power bomb expansion before torvus and skipping the echo visor. The route was basically the same as the 1:43/1:38 runs otherwise (yes, I skipped Grapple). I didn't try particularly hard but I got 2:50 first time and then 2:07. I may try again for under 2 hours. One issue that was thrown up testing this route is that Quadraxis is likely to be quite a bit slower with no echo visor, which might well make the speed gains from secret worlding somewhat less than expected. Still, it was an interesting test.

no, but excellent idea.

having said that it's much less of a drag when it's not dragging. big thanks to grenola for the talent ... and radix for the cutscene skips.

Hey, hey now.  There will be no MP2 bashing here.  Shame on you

Later on this year I may try to fool around with the game again.  That way, I can play it for next year if Grenola doesn't come.

Lol, that might make for an interesting race... <_<  >_>

If I play faster than others, it is because I stand on the shoulders of giants.

I will admit that the route I used was influenced somewhat by watching Classic Games Done Quick. I found myself asking the question: If someone asked me to sit down and beat the game in one sitting as quickly as possible, which route would I use? What is a good tradeoff between safety and entertainment? To ask another, related question, what would be a good secret-world-exploiting, single-segment route?

There are quite a few route choices that might have fateful consequences: whether to skip the Dark Suit (and risk dying in Abandoned Base); whether to skip Grapple (and risk failing, or being stuck for eternity in Grand Abyss); whether to get the early power bomb expansion (risk of screwing up the game, but it makes Boost Guardian much easier, especially if the Dark Suit is skipped); how many energy tanks to collect (I think you'd probably want all four of the early ones). Skipping the Echo Visor isn't trivial either, and it would make Quadraxis a lot more dangerous, but it is pretty cool.

A game with mandatory chronic damage seems to me like a controversial choice for a live demonstration. Especially this game. >_>

My time could've been a few minutes lower, but wasted like 2 minutes on the Vault & Watch Station (Sanctuary Fortress) & I messed up on the Emperor Ing's 3rd phase pretty badly.

btw, what's with the 33-36% thing? i noticed the same for your mp1 time. is it that because you don't remember the exact percent?

also, that time seems quite good. do you plan to do a recorded run someday?

Yeah, I don't remember the percentage. lol
I'll probably do a recorded run since there isn't a SS SW run on SDA. But I probably won't do it anytime soon though. What equipment is recommended for recording?
