A Super Metroid remake for 3DS!

Imagine Ridley shooting out of the screen in the beginning with the baby metroid.

Super Metroid 3D should be made.  How many times has Nintendo remade a Mario or Zelda game.  They are currently remaking Ocarina of Time considered by most to be the best Zelda.  Well SM is considered by most to be the best Metroid game.

I like turtles.
How about by improving the graphics (full 3D models as opposed to sprite-based) and streamlined the controls to resemble Fusion's and Zero Mission's?  Variable difficulty settings and different endings to match (as well as endings for 100% nuts like myself)?  A gallery with extras and goodies - like an unlockable cheats menu and concept art - and maybe even including the full original version of the game (glitches and all)?  I'd buy it.

Personally I think Super has by far the best control scheme. It's so fluent and intuitive. There's so much control there when you really know everything she can do. Fusion and zero mission seem to "well made". Zero mission does feel a bit better than fusion but both seem too streamlined to be enjoyable. It feels like a control schem built for the evironment where as super you can break samus to de even more things that what she was originally intended. But I wonder whether the developers actually were aware of half the things we regard as glitches or sequence breaks.

Well anyway it is a dream of mine to play super on a handheld. Well technically I've already done that with my friends psp but it was very laggy and slowdown ridden. Plus uncorfatable on that console.

I wonder if everyone who complains about SM's control scheme realizes that you can customize it. I mean, I guess I can see how holding in Run all the time can be annoying for someone who isn't used to it, sure, but what else is there to improve? I couldn't go without having two separate diagonal aim buttons.

Don't get me wrong I love zero mission and fusion but I don't feel as in touch with samus's movements as I do in super.

This. And what's more is that if you play the game with a GC controller, you can bind Z (select) as your run button, so you can move your right thumb around more freely. I think the only thing you can complain about with SM's controls is that Samus has momentum in her movement, making it easy to slip when jumping off of platforms or edges. But once you get the timing down for that down, there's nothing else wrong with the the controls.

the problem is that there's no good way to customize it so that you have easy access to all the controls.

My control scheme works pretty good for that -- Run is Y, Jump is B, Shoot is X, and all combinations of the three are easily possible with just your thumb. Then bring down your index finger for item switch (A). If you want item cancel (I never use it, but it would probably come in handy with grapple and x-ray) you can always do the A = Run held down with your index finger control scheme.

This is all assuming you are a speed runner and need to be holding in run at all times, of course.

I don't think it's impossible to improve upon Super.  A remake could be as better than the original as ZM was to OM. 
We've had the argument about remakes in the past, and it seems like people who freak out about remakes tend to forget that a remake doesn't erase, destroy, or even change the original game in the slightest.  It will always be there, regardless if the remake is appreciated or not.
Yes, I realize that this topic isn't really about a remake, but rather a 3DS version.

That's the biggest reason why I prefer SM's controls over the GBA games'. You can use your middle finger for R if/when you are using your index finger for A, kind of like a dualshock controller. It's actually surprisingly comfortable.

I think the best controls for everybody would be Super's (customizable), sans the run button. I personally like the run button and always feel like something is missing when playing the GBA games, but eh, gotta compromise.

On second thought, an extra shoulder button would solve a lot too.

Also, you can just hold R to arm missiles and Power Bombs and release to disarm.  That's pretty useful if you don't think fast enough to press Select X amount of times under pressure to get the right tool for the job.
