I got this game a couple days ago and im up to the research stations. They are making me all jumpy. I dont know what it is but knowingspace pirates are around the corner makes me nervous. If I had a dollar for every time a space pirate killed me I would have...well about 2 dollars but still they look bad and seem to want me dead. I love the atmosphere in this game. Except for the chozo ruins for some reason.

Use a charged wave beam, then a missile for quick pirate killing action!

Once you get the Super Missile Combo(Hold A in Power Beam, then hit Y at full power) to give the SP's and co. what they deserve.

I just used ice beam + missile most of the game.... on most enemies.

Likewise.

Lab Hydra was the point where the game turned from "great" into "my favorite game of all time and one of the most amazing experiences i've ever had in all of gaming"

so, i guess that says a lot about the atmosphere...

I think he's talking about a non-sb'ing game, before super m's, so I gave him my best advice for there.

never? You gotta get plasma for thardus at least once! And sj first, p.bombs before spider ball, early grapple beam, skip gravity suit, there's so much good stuff.

Why am I so amazing?
Believe it or not, sequence breaking is really just a niche thing and the majority of gamers enjoy Metroid games without ever doing it.

True.

I personally didn't like the techno areas very much, especially with this horrible "pirates ambush" music...

Best was Tallon Overworld.

But sj first is so easy and doesn't interfere much with the flow of the game... Nintendo should put a sequence breaking section into their manuals, or at least post http://www.Metroid2002.com in them.

I didn't know about sequence breaking for about a month after I played it, and I found it to be one of the best games I've ever played. I got it with Rouge Leader, happened to play Rouge Leader first, so got hooked to that. It is definatley one of the best GC games out there. Anyways, didn't really get hooked to Prime until I beat Flaahgrah. For some reason, entering Phendrana just made it a really good game for me. Sequence Breaking just even makes it a better game! Of course...the only two I've pulled off are SJB first and Ice right after Wave.

Yeah I was already out when I posted it but I sppose the charge then missle combo works allright but I for some reson just prefer 2 missles even though that is slower.  I borrowed the game from a freind a year ago and never played it, got zero mission, beat that and then bought prime from the same freind for 20 bucks.
I was going to get players choice but I heard sequence breaking was harder in that game so I just got the first ed. 00-USA :D. The one thing I dont like is the crashes. The only I had for a while was going on the elevator from the chozo ruins the the talon overworld.  Now I just got the wavebeam twice and it froze on that hall leaving twice In a row. I tried slowing down so the rooms could load but it still froze. Oh well ill try again but I hope I dont have to sacrifice a controller to my anger if It freezes again.

Two missiles should be faster. Keep power beam on, quickly go Y-A-Y-A. Rapid fire! I just prefer wave + missile because it keeps 'em stunned and uses half the ammo.

A charged plasma.  One hit, and it doesn't waste missiles.

A)I dont have Plasma yet.
B) Thats not really what I posted this topic about. I posted it because I thought the whole world would love to know that I get jumpy at the atmosphere of the Research stations. Obviously I was wrong about the world revolving around me Crying or Very sad . Next thing you know money WONT grow on trees.  :P  Sorry, thats just crazy talk.

The first time I played the music in there when Pirates attack freaked me out! Was really spooky,
especially when the lights go out later
I'm aware most ppl know that but hey, this thread is by a Newbie. I'm showing consideration.

That music still makes me a bit jumpy now and again.

Never stressed
Yeah even having played the game many times I still go into "Caution Mode" when I hear the Pirate Ambush song, you'd think I'd be used to it by now. The labs are so much nicer with sequence breaking, Early Ice Beam is nice at that point no backtrack out the front through darkness just go to the back part of Phendrana, YAY sequence breaking.

One part that really freaked me out was coming into elite control backwards (early pb) and the boss/pitate music started to play so i decided to run to the door as quickly as i could. Half way there the cut scene rolls and well, i dont want to say screamed...it was mor like a "woah". yea.

BTW, how do you get grapple early? I havent been able to figure that one out.

The Shadow Pirates and the pirate that jumps through the window are the only things that still kinda get spooked about.

for early grapple, dash jump to the waste disposal door, then use an l-lock spring jump across the gap and enter the door there before needing the PBs (ntsc only)
