That was fun. If this was your first effort, KEEP IT UP. You've got an excellent eye for room design, aesthetics, and what's "fun"; a full hack of yours would be awesome.

For your edit: Under "Game Behavior", there's a checkable box that will make you immediately spawn from your ship, making this hack truly one-room. Also, if you want it to be beatable, the room right after Mother Brain triggers the end-of-game state; fighting Mother Brain herself does nothing but start the timer. You could switch the "you win" room to that, just for giggles.

@GK: I really don't see what makes a hack "bad". It's a free game made by someone interested only in amusing other people; you're putting yourself in a very awkward place complaining about it. Of course there are different styles of room design, and some of these are arguably worse than others (if I may note your "Short Metroid", which was supposed to be beaten via a glitch that works only on console), so some constructive criticism is probably a good thing. But seriously, complaining about rom hacks? That's just ridiculous.

"you're putting yourself in a very awkward place complaining about it" True, I did also put this in the wrong topic. ;>__>

I am not going to quote all people since they are allmost the same any way.

""Nice to see you value players with enthusiasm to learn tricks and glitches equally to those who like to explore and search for items in a safe environment. Your outburst was the funniest thing in a while. You feel that if there are lots of players who think like me, your graphic-fested hacks will be left alone, because you obviously have not given much thought to the obstacles and other practical things rather than just changing graphics.""
Yes it is true I like exploring over tricks... I think that is what metroid is about. Safe environment is a lie, but lets leave that point.
Yes graphics don't win players. I just think it is a nice add to see some thing new. I do think about obstacles, I made a mistake. Posting screen shots here won't give me any feed back. In fact I have made many mistakes. I think I was a bit to young when I started ROM-hacking too....

But my point in posting in this topic was not to start a flame war as it seams to be right now. I do want more people to hack Super Metroid. There are tools that are easy to use. I just don't want this place to turn into some thing like how SMWC was befor (And still may be)
I do not say I am perfect, I made mistakes and will most likely make more. But what I have seen poping up here after we got a Rom-hacking sectiong is not what I want to see.
I was suppose to make my last post in the SM "Gravy" topic, Thats why things got a bit messed up.

I have stated my oppinion. If you want to keep flame me for what I think. Go a head, I don't mind it's not my problem if you hate me for speaking my mind.

Apparently so. I've been reworking this hack to give a proper ending but for some reason it crashes everytime now, ever since i set the PLM to a different number to get more use out of new abilities and puzzles in the room. I'd ask for help but I don't know who to ask.

Well you have stated your opinion. I think it is searching items as well as giving bosses hard time and breaking the game in pieces by playing differently than intended.  :)    (Super Metroid: Sequencebreaker! anyone interested? :D)

Anyone want to give a link or info or something about this? I have no idea what has happened elsewhere and I am interested in seeing where we might be going.

Is there something wrong with Gravy? Is that the crappy hack you were talking about? Again, I am sorry to disagree with you, but Gravy is the best hack for me right after SMI. It also has a lot of item searching, so I would say it is very interesting as a whole. Well, SMI had those hard-to-find items too, but anyway....

Sorry if you got some negative feedback from me and others, but may I suggest you refrain from using expressions like "WTF? Seriously! Just NO!" and try to express your opinions a little softer. I should think about that too, sorry I went a little overboard.

Erm... I seem to be stuck in the new version...

I've gotten the

Grapple Beam

but I can't seem to find anything else... and I do mean ANYTHING else. Any hints?

EDIT: Nevermind, the Rule of Forum Posting came into effect. :P

Beat it.  Couldn't figure out what to do at the end though.  Finally figured out that it was a map station.

I also managed to sequence break your game. :P I got Supers before Power Bombs.  I can tell you if you want.

In the passage that leads to Bombs (or is it Grapple Bombs?:P) you can do a left diagonal shinespark up the part that you normally can shoot straight up.  This allows you to nab Supers right after Power Bombs.

I also got the supers before the power bombs, but still, it does not affect the gameplay in any way IMO. I really didn't get the thing in the end, kept on bombing it, until I demorphed, it said "ka-chuck" and then I figured it was a map station. The map was hilarious :D

I'll have to change the layout a bit more, it IS important that you get the powers before the supers albeit the ending requires all of them, because I've made a certain path for a horizontal spark leading to the supers. I'll just coat the left side of the speedblocks with powerbomb blocks,

I also did Supers before PB's naturaly. I was going to try to midair morph into that odd stuff but pressed jump too late and connected. :D

You know, I think this should become a trend. One room hacks.

A chance to see how much you can make out of a small space. How long it takes you to beat it.
Those are just my thoughts. I think I've played everything but Gravy now, wouldn't mind some small hacks.

Er, (JU) roms are all that SMILE can edit. There were only two versions of Super Metroid: The Japan/US (JU) version, and the European (E) version. SMILE can't edit the (E) version.

are you certain? :P Anyways, this works fine on the headered (JU) rom. Headered roms are 3,073 KB. Unheadered roms are 3,072. Again, you want headered.

JU stands for Japinese (I think) and United Sates (or North America somehow, I really don't know). aka, J=U when it comes to games (I think). *I think alot Very Happy*
