That was pure genius. Cool

Not that it matters since we can do it easier in the GC versions, but would that even work without the Springball? (Or would you have to do some sort of crazy bomb jump?)

I think that would also work on the gamecube version. I don't know how difficult the ghetto is without spacejump so maybe this is easier when doing a no spacejump game.

And segment 8 of my test run:

that trick was neat.

also, i find funny that in all mp games on wii, there's a skippable suit now.

can't you skip dark suit too?

i think hote can be done with a 2bj. i've gotten very close on the original version but never actually made it, but it's still probably the best option.

ahh, i never even thought to boost. i tried that for a good hour with various bjs in my no space jump game and finally got it with a ubj. very nice.

is the "normal" way of getting through the room (using the bomb slot) still possible?

yeah, i finally got it with a 3bj in my no space jump game, but it had to be just right so that the ball stoped just above the bottom edge.

The normal way? You mean jumping to the bomb slot? I justed finished segment 9 so you can see how its done. In a speedrun the bombjump will be used too.

I took a look at the updated route and I think that picking up Lifegiver after wave beam is faster than picking it up before Wild. If you stick with the route, after picking up Lifegiver you'll have to take a long treck to get to Wild but if you had picked it up earlier you can take the other way back to Chozo ruins which would be faster for getting to Wild.

For my test run I still have to take my other route since I already did the wave segment. I'm not sure when to pick up strength but I think the second time is faster. Also we can pick up nature on the way to wild too but we have boost ball by then so its better to boost through the room and pick up nature the first time like I did in this run. And we need supers to climb sun tower. It can be done without supers but even if the ghetto works we still have to float up for about 20 minutes. Also the bomb jump is not going to work. I will look into this but can't realy see a way to get up there.

same reason spider is needed also:
suntower.

and if they're skipped, the run will be much slower given the options..

I've been working on early space jump as well as early wave today to eliminate the long travels back and forth from phendrana. These are pretty the things I tried and how close I've come.

Early space jump isn't going to well. I've only really tried the bomb jump from the back of the ship and have come close but only once. They either moved the ship forward or the bomb jump is a lot worse because I usually don't even come near the ledge. I switched to the GC version and was able to do it three or four times so it is obviously a lot harder in this version. I don't really see early spce jump happening enless a new technique is discovered.

Early wave is going quite well as I've come extremely close with a few things. The first thing I tried was a boost + springball from the floating platform near the door to Ice ruins West to the floating platform near the door to Chozo ice temple. This didn't go very well as I didn't come close. The second thing I tried was a dbj instead of a space jump to get to the floating platform near Chozo ice temple. This went fairly well but not far enough to make it. Next, I tried a dbj + boost on the left side of the ledge to the Chozo ice temple door. This went very well as I think I actually made it up one attempt but boosted right back off. I'm not sure but I think i'm coming very close but I might be wrong. Next, I tried a dbj + boost off the right side of the ledge to the Chozo ice temple door, the same place you would perform a triple bomb jump in a no space jump game. It went very well, as well as the other side. Lastly, I tried to simply boost up the right side of the ledge. It is very random but I actually came extremely close a few times. I also noticed something when doing the dbj + boost up the right side, if you use spring ball up against the wall and then try spring balling again, it will actually work sometimes and you'll spring ball twice. This might actually be very useful in other parts of the game.

Try unplug the sensor bar (or turn it the other way so it doesn't pick up the remote's movement), then dbj for early SJ.

I noticed this springball effect too when trying early wave beam but a boost after the second springball doesn't seem to work. Also there is one spot on the right side of the ledge leading to ice temple where a bomb jump or springball gets a lot of hight. I tried boosting up that ledge too and got pretty close. I'm too far to the right on this attempt. T3, where did you dbj on the left side where you got really close? I can't get anything to work on the left. If nothing works we can always try the secret world in the room with those wave beam enemys and use charge beam to reach that secret world to get to ice temple.

Forget about the left side, it really isn't getting close anymore. I get a lot closer on the right side with a dbj + boost anyway. The place you would do it on the left side is right behind the place you would space jump to get to the floating platform near the Chozo ice temple door.

I found the place you get a lot of height on the right side though. I dbj + boosted and came extremely close. I also tried to boost up that side and came extremely close as well. I really think i'm getting better at this and I think i'll be able to do it.

Good job with the speed run. I'm not quite ready to start a speed run of my own as i'm still getting used to the controls. After watching segment 10, I tried out some tricks that could speed things up. When your going to Waste disposal, you don't have to climb the whole crane. Once you ghetto jump onto the crane just jump from the structure you're on to the block that holds the grapple point. It's a hard jump but could save time. I also realized that in the first part in Waste disposal you didn't continually bomb jump up and you did it in seperate bomb jumps. Why is that?

I'm also still getting used to it as you can see in some segments. Also changing beams doesn't always seem to work.

And keep up the good work on trying the early wave beam. I can't do it but maybe you can. And thanks for the crane tip I will try it out.

As for the bomb jump in waste disposal, I couldn't do it because of the 1 bomb rule but thats probably because I was pushing up against the right side. Is it even possible?

segment 12. As you can see I don't know the way in the super missile room very well :P. Solving the room the way you're supposed to is new to me :D

I am still working on early wave but it's becoming relatively boring since i'm just trying the things over and over. Even if I do eventually do it, that only proves it's possible. Doing it in a speed run would be extremely frustrating because you would have to get it fairly quickly.

You can still continually bomb jump in Waste disposal but from what i've tested, it's random. Sometimes the bomb sends you higher, sometimes you fall right through it.

Just wondering but what sensitivity are you playing it on. I cannot play on the lowest sensitivity. I use the standard sensitivity.

I see that you are using an extra segment. Are you still going to save in frost cave.

I got borred trying early wave beam too, you are right, even if you do it it will be very hard in a speedrun. I still think sjf should be tried. It is possible to get an extended dash from the ship and that might be enough to get to the ledge. I made a post about it a few pages back.

I'm using the middle sensitivity, low seems really slow to me and high could be better but feels too fast and inacurate.

Since we don't have to pick up gravity now I decided to add the thermal visor to segment 13 and save near workstation. So no extra segment.

Have to check out how to beat thardus with 2 powerbombs. I think one at the beginning and one at the end is the best choice.
