But like I said, it is possible to do a 6% run without the X-ray scope.

Gunna have a hard time X-ray-climbing without the X-ray there, mate.

If you can do a run without using the X-Ray Scope, go ahead. How do you plan to skip the statue?

You don't need the Ice Beam to kill Metroids; powerbombs do the trick just fine. You just need to ensure that you get enough powerbomb drops from the Metroids to be able to kill the next set; this is highly unlikely. And of course you need to dodge them while placing the bombs.

Me and Cpadolf found ways to skip the first metroid room with x-ray. We also did some testing and got past the 2nd room iirc. The problem with the 3rd room was that when you were climbing, a rinka hit you, but in realtime, im sure there should be a way to shoot it or something idk. That's a problem because a rinka also hits you in MB's room. Pretty sure the final metroid room couldn't be skipped, because your on the wrong side of a vertical room or something. Kejardon helped us too if I remember right.

Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
I don't think I helped you with that... At the most I may have made a few comments on the idea but I don't remember looking into it too much.
You can travel outside the first room with little trouble. You can't travel outside the second room, and I don't think there's a way to start on top of the door in the second room so I kinda doubt you managed to skip the 2nd metroid room. 3rd room would be as skippable as the first room, I'd think. I guess the Rinkas could cause trouble but there is an energy refill after the hatchling metroid if it's really needed. 4th room I'm pretty sure cannot be skipped for the same reasons as the 2nd room.

The problem with the even rooms is that they're only one screen wide. The wider the room, the farther into RAM is read if you go above the room. If you don't go far enough, then you end up in ordinary room data - which is completely cleared with solid blocks before the new room's blocks, BTS, and (optional) background blocks are loaded into it. You need a wide enough room to skip the room data entirely (4 screens wide, 3 screens wide if you can manage to land above AND left of the room).
There is a way around such rooms though: If you can manipulate where you start inside the room, you may be able to land on top of a door to skip the room (This is done to get Kraid's e-tank before killing Kraid). However, you only have 1 screen you can appear in, and it is centered roughly on the door you enter through. Which isn't far enough to skip the 2nd and 4th room.
If you're really desperate, you can try to go below the room rather than above it (or travel far enough up to loop to below the room). But the data here is constant, depending only on the current room's data, and there is often nothing useful below the room so you're just stuck. You could actually reach the 4th room's bottom door like this, but you will end up above the next room, encased in solid block because it's only 2 screens wide.

And yeah, none of that matters unless you're going for speed or something, as powerbombs + massive luck with drops can get you past the metroids too.

No, I looked back into it and found the SMV of the first room, and played with it. What we actually did was get into a copy of the 2nd room to the right, and used Pbs there. Yes, apparently useless.

But yeah, for console it is pretty close to getting through the metroids for a 6%, too bad I don't see how a console runner will get past the crash blocks for the MB skip. The energy recharge will allow the 3rd room skip most def.
