they didn't release 2 and 3 here originally and thought they could trick people into thinking they weren't missing anything. turns out not only did they not trick people for the long run but they also look really dumb now. moral: don't do dumb things. they make you look dumb.
Fire Emblem (GBA) is like the 6th or so in the series.
7th actually.

I always found the blue mage class to be a pain in the neck. Getting all of the good abilities is extremely guide-centered and tedious.
Not really. The Aero series is easy to get, Flamethrower is pretty much impossible to miss, Goblin Punch, Vampire, ???, Aqua Breath, Death Claw, Dark Spark, and Level 5 Death are all easily gettable in World 1. Level 3 Flare will take a bit of waiting since Exdeath doesn't seem to like casting it; White Wind is tricky unless you cheat slightly and grind up a Beastmaster for !Control which isn't a bad idea if you want Wonder Guard and if you're sort of lazy/playing to just use Blue Mages a lot rather than for e-penis.
That's pretty much all you'll ever need, a couple others might have some use now and then, but for the most part as long as you have a party of 3-4 Blue Mages you'll get all the good spells and a solid chunk of the others. It can be a little annoying sometimes as an enemy can just not use that skill for a while when it feels like it, Beastmasters can help with that sometimes if you aren't a purist, but the point is: FFV Blue Magic is the best, they gimped it to hell in later games so you know it owns. Blue Mages don't need to equip Learning to learn it and also have sweet capes and are therefore the best class. So, logically, for optimum best you make all four characters Blue Mages and use Blue Magic all the time.
Not using Blue Magic in FFV is morally reprehensible.
I don't know, it's still pretty annoying if you ask me. FFVI handled learning blue magic a little better by allowing Relm to sketch a monster and use its attack without turning your party into a punching bag. And maybe the Blue Magic in FFV has some semi-significant use, but I usually stick to the basics: black and white magic.
do we all share the same apathy towards the current state of the series?
As much as it pains me to say it, yes, this is mostly the case for me. I have other stuff that I want to finish first, so I'm not rushing, but I haven't even been checking trailers and stuff.

Relm being in the party makes your party a punching bag, in FFV you can just assign !Control to a good classes and learning to a good class that could take the hit and problem solved. And (0% of the time you're gonna get hit by the spell anyway, might as well learn it for your trouble.:p
If you're sticking to White and Black Magic you are playing the game wrong. The Time and especially Blue are so much more fun to play with.

FF13 was released a few days ago. Has anybody here actually played it, or do we all share the same apathy towards the current state of the series?
Apathy is death! But yeah the series has just seemed to be growing into this completely unremarkable state, a crescendo of unremarkable if you will. That should be the title of XIV.
Well, I've checked out lots of gameplay footage of FFXIII, and my honest opinion on the game is "good-bye RPG, hello interactive movie." The cutscenes are long as shit, and although the battle system and the replacement of random battles by a Chrono-esque method of encounters are improvements, the game just doesn't seem all that amazing. However, it's not nearly as terrible as people predicted it to be, if you ask me.
I recently decided against buying 13 after reading a lot of reviews. I ended up playing 9, 10, 10-2 and 12 since I didn't have the pay for them, but I would be curious to know if anyone who liked the earlier games though 13 was a good buy.
Anything goes. Hell, talk about the dlc for FFIV: The After Years. Have fun.
Anyone a Final Fantasy fan?
Yeah, I'd say i'm a FF fan but personally I think FF XIII has let the series down. I've played them all though but X, XII get my vote by a long stretch.
Dude, Major bumping error there. Did you even read the rules?

No "Bumping" – This is sort of a biggie, we feel. Since we have such stringent rules in place regarding spamming and so forth, we must also set this rule in effect as well. Bumping is defined as writing "bump" as your post simply to move it up to the top. Also, reviving a topic older than one month without posting anything useful is considered "bumping." This is not tolerated at the forums. If you so feel the need to reactivate idling threads, make sure you do so with an intelligent post. Violation will result in a Warning.
:O. I don't think it's a crime. I think that Poison envy is very linear. In which case means that.....I have FFX, FFX-2, FFXII. I like them they are my favorite out of the game series. I'm stuck on FFX. I'm at the battle with Yunalesca and I can only seem to beat her 1st and 2nd form. I always get hit with that Damn Mega death. I tried my Aeons and I use Aaron, Tidus and Yuna. I Need to defeat Yunalesca to beat Sin. I'm almost there.
FFX-2 I'm not stuck ATM.
FFXII I'm stuck at the boss battle on the airship after rescuing Lady Ashe. I always die and start at the beginning, I use Basch, Vaan and Ashe. Here are their levels: Vaan: level 10 Basch: level 10 Ashe: level 10-11?

Zetsumei posted an intelligent post with complete sentences that can lead to further discussion. Explain to me, Mr. Batista, exactly how he violated that rule and maybe I won't issue you a warning.
He Posted to a topic that was 5 months and 3 days old. That's "bumping" right there. I'm not trying to do anything to get "Banned", "Warned" or even try causing trouble. I'm just refering to the rules. Is that a crime? All I said was that he "bump"ed a topic older then one month. sorry if I minimod, or any sort of thing that would go against me. I'd rather have peace than war. It'd be better if you had a "Message system". That way you could deal with it.

There is. It is poorly labeled but it is the link next between "unread" and "stats". There is also the little yellow rectangle with the green arrow at the top of each post.
