Sounds like a refreshing change of pace at this point. The brooding whiny dipshit heroes people have been going for since FFVII were lame then and have only gotten worse.

My favorite older FF music is definitely from FF4.  If you haven't heard it, the OGC version of red wings is awesome.  I don't think there's a FF music score that I don't like though, another of my favorites would be FF8.

Not a big fan of the NES Final Fantasy titles myself, the SNES generation was the best, and it's a shame how far the later games in the series (excluding IX) have ventured from that golden era. Same goes for the music, Uematsu kinda got behind his time in the PS1 years, too much synth and not enough live instruments.

The Super Famicom version.

Seriously. Aside from a couple stellar tracks (Gilgamesh), the music just rubs me the wrong way.

Play the GBA version, it's one of just a very few ports in which the music sounds better than the original.

Annoying
I liked it until World 2. Other than Exdeath Castle and Gilgamesh, the story seemed to drag on and on, and I almost had to force myself to play through World 3. Has anybody played the spoof hack for it? Just by hacking the text to make the story perverted, psychotic and yet funny made me enjoy the game enough to play it to the end.

I hated it too at the first couple of plays, yet I still keep coming back. The NES Final Fantasys tend to have storys that couldn't pass 6th grade english exams  Very Happy

heh, it's so awesome it prompted me to learn it on the piano. unfortunately, the piano song is intended for a professional, so i can only play the first part.

I'm still stuck on the Decisive Battle from Final Fantasy VI, I've almost got the second part mastered, but still need to learn the third part and play it at it's intended pace.

Just wondering, do you guys here prefer the old Ted Woolsey translation of FFVI or the GBA version translation? Now, I'm strictly speaking about translation, NOT other software quality, 'cause I think everyone here knows that the music and graphics were better on the original SNES version. I personally prefer the GBA translation myself, too many goofs on the original that just annoy the living hell out of me, but what do you guys think?
