the gritty photoshop filters are pretty cute though. nice done-by-an-eighth-grader touch, interdpth. only thing missing is a couple lens flares. ;)

You know, there's a huge difference when you post a work of art versus when you try to pass it off as "real" or "legit"... People are damn skeptical. And rightly so; especially when we're talking /Metroid/ here.

I posted this over at IGN too, but they were more forbearing than most of you were. But my posting it over there wasn't the point of trolling, it was really just to see if I can get some constructive criticism out of the deal, with skepticism in mind. People will tear shit apart given the chance and doubt, and this was my intent. Posting it as a work of art I believe will net me much less constructive criticism.

And it was fun trolling peeps too.

I'd have gone with the 3DS logo instead of the Wii one but... y'know... none exists. You could say this didn't stop me with this photoshop cop-out, but whatever. The slogan thingy could have been better... I did make a grammar mistake in it. It should have read "Embrace your fear, for it is your only ally" because "ally" is singular, and it's being referred to by a plural, "fears", thus making this another reason why one would think it's fake. Grammar mistakes never get published, especially when it's something as polished as something official from Nintendo.

So, mistakes aside, what do you think of the actual artwork? A few hours in photosop does this justice? I'm actually proud of it, and I will consider making at least one mockup of a game each year.

I don't necessarily think that is grammatically incorrect. Though 'fears' is plural, it can be referred to as a singular because it is ONE group. For example: 'Embrace the Chinese, for they are your only ally.' The chinese is/are plural in the billions, but they are ONE group (as denoted by using 'is/are' - either would work.) Yes, I am high.
