Wait, THAT is how you're supposed to get to that star normally in 64? I've always used the cannon and prayed I'd hit the mark and not fly off into oblivion. In all my years of playing the game I've never seen this owl before.

Edit: Heh, wow. Just found some vids on YouTube of the thing. Funny how I never noticed it before since it's in a spot that's super easy to get to.

I love it when you find things like that in games, even stupid numbers of years later. aiwebs_011

I had a preowned cpy of SM64 and the owl was one of my first memories of the game, second to "hurr durr the dpad dosn't wurk" after only playing Pokemon Stadium on my 64.

Got it in my head to play Knights of the Old Republic again a couple days back, beat it and then went straight on the the sequel just because. Still like the sequel way better whatever the haters say, I am supremely confident in my rightness.

Still plugging away at SMG2.  I think I have 118 or 119 stars.  There's only one star that I can even go for at this point, and I've been trying for over an hour.  It's the big bad bowser speed run or something like that.  I get to the same part over and over with no prob, but die in the same area repeatedly.  This wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that every time I die I have to replay the same 2 minutes of the game over and over (and over) and I end up turning it off out of boredom.
The death keeps occuring because I am unable to perceive the positioning of certain items in 3D.  I jump and my vision tells me that I'm spot on, but then I end up landing somewhere else.  I guess I just have to stop trying to assess it with my eyes and guess?

The hardest Bowser stage star is the one where you have to clear an entire stage + boss with 1 hitpoint.

I'm not sure about your question, but I think the best bet is to let experience influence your jumping. You're probably right that solely relying on the human vision won't always work.

I already got the star that you say is the hardest bowser star.  I forgot to mention the one thing that I believe has this particular star eluding me:  Yoshi.  I fucking hate yoshi in this game!

OK - finally got 120 stars.  I'm scouring over the map not seeing any further stars to get, then I read online that I have to go defeat Bowser AGAIN in order to unlock the green stars.  Just did that, now waiting for credits to end.  Hopefully the pace of the game will pick up because I really did not enjoy getting the last 8 stars or so.

EDIT:  Three green stars in less than 6 minutes - I'd say that definitely defines an increase in the pace of the game.  Something tells me that by the time I'm done with this that I will learn to hate the camera in this game.

The green stars are really stupid anyways. They're artificically making the game seem longer. It's really just the same with Luigi in SMG.

It's a NEW GAME +, and not follow up content.

The green Luma that talks to you about the Green Stars tells you this if you speak to him after getting all 120, but I guess if you didn't think to talk to him again, then you wouldn't have a clue.

It's still better than simply playing again as a different character though. And I loved some of the green stars and the challenge behind getting them.

Aww, Sterrance!
Haha, Opium, I was doing the EXACT same thing today, getting the last few stars, then I was like "wait, aren't there twice this many?", so I looked online and found it.  I think the hardest power stars were the ones in the last world - the Luigi purple coin one, the rainbow road ones, and the Thwomp ones especially.

I did talk to the green lumas and they said something about 'taking care of that guy'.  I suppose if I sat there and racked my brain that I might have figured out that they were telling me to go kill bowser again, but talk about being cryptic!

Not even the team of Crono/Frog/Robo that I once thought epic can beat that pesky git Magus.

Use Crono, Frog, and Lucca. That way you can have Frog do the healing (and the occasional Masamune attack) while Crono and Lucca use Fire Sword at the appropriate time, and cast defense buffing spells.

Robo is typically a poor choice when facing enemies that cast a lot of magic. He can't take much of it and Magus is pretty fucking good at throwing it around.

Does Marle have bad magic defense too or is it just low hp? Or both? I always bansish her to the end of time forever once Frog shows up so I really have no idea what her stats start to look like.
Always be froggin.

Her offensive spells suck and all of her healing techs are single-target, which sucks since Magus uses a lot of full field spells.

Well actually, that's what makes her a shitty character in general, but you get the point.
