Super Hero changes some of the level layout, many puzzles (Galaxy level becomes famously devilish on SH), and enemy placement. It's not added enemies, it's different enemies. Feels like a different game. My favorite extra mode in MM9.

Started Hard in MM10. Tis awesome. Only killed two guys so far, Pump and Blade. Now Strike.

Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Quote from ryu:
Finished upgrading my bombs and arrows, by the way. Didn't know there was a maximum amount of "total wishes" so I ended up with 50 bombs and 60 arrows.

That should read 70 arrows if you're maxed.  Bombs go up 5 at a time, and then 10 to 50, and arrows go up 5 at a time, and then 10 to 70.

Quote from ryu:
I'm still at 700 rupees and pretty much just started exploring the Dark World. :| :| :|

Pretty much the only time you'll  struggle with Rupees is the Flippers.  If you have them, then anything else is an extra, so just splash out on potions or the red shield (if you didn't get it in the light world).

I'm sure there is another 600 waiting in the Dark World village too.  More excess. aiwebs_014

How the hell did I not pay attention to the Wily2 (stage) music? That's absolutely brilliant. I'm totally appreciating the soundtrack better on my second run.

At Wily2 now. Hopefully I can finish the fortress tonight.

But it's still completely obliterated by the Wily 2 track from MM9.

Very good track too.

Finished Hard mode. That was probably the most fun I've had with any game this year. Great stuff.

Not really looking forward to fighting Nitro Man H without taking damage for the crown... but this game seems much more forgiving than MM9 for 100%, and I was patient enough to 100% MM9, so I'm diving in.

Master plan:

Tomorrow: challenges for a change of pace.
Saturday: speed-run for the achievement.
Sunday, if all goes well: Mr. Perfect and cleaning up for 100%.

Why am I so amazing?
Baten Kaitos was pretty slick. Horrible, horrible voice acting, but very unique battle system and plot. Definitely worth a spin.

Tales of the Abyss is the only Tales game I've played that can hold a candle to Symphonia.

Prey is very much an old-school FPS, but with some totally psychedelic level designs. Reminds me of Duke Nukem 3D in all the right ways (understandably so, since it's 3D Realms and what have you).

Dave Mirra is like what would happen if a mentally disabled child tried to make Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.

Those are the only ones from that stack I've played. Can't comment on the rest.

Only one I've played before of those is Max Payne, and that was on PC. Great stuff when it first came out, and for me at least it holds up pretty well still from what I remember when I played it last year. (After seeing the movie.) The Bullet Time mechanic is still cool, no matter how many times you've seen it at this point. Jumping around corners and twisting Max around to take out anybody out of view, while in slow-mo, is always fun.

Are you playing GBA or SNES version? I remember some people on here saying fairy resurrection didn't count as a death on GBA, but did on SNES. I found no deaths on GBA quite easy, provided you keep a healthy stock of fairies.

I believe that's true, as whenever I play I always stick to potions, to avoid the deaths.  I normally keep two red, and two blue with me.

Here's some weapon info for Mega Man 10 if you haven't figured 'em out already:

Chill Spike
Freezes enemies, then you can switch to another weapon and finish them off. Works surprisingly well. I wish we could use the enemy as a stepping stone while it's frozen, but it's not like we don't have enough mobility items already. Placing a spike on the floor or walls deals much more damage.

Commando Bomb
You can change its direction with the d-pad. Additionally, if you hit the wall or floor, the explosion deals more damage.

Rebound Striker
This is really cool: each bounce on the wall adds 1+ power to the ball. This weapon is also multi-directional like Metal Blade and Pharaoh Shot. Bouncy bouncy!

Solar Blaze
This weapon is a mystery to me. People love it, but I find it kinda weak for how close you need to be to activate the spread shot fast enough. Anyway, if you hit the enemy with the core, the spread comes faster.

Thunder Wool
Lightning bolt hits multiple times (who said lightning can't strike the same place twice, right?). If you place a cloud over a pit with those annoying parachute enemies, the thunder will kill them before they get to you.

Triple Blade
Each blade deals damage separately, like Magma Bazooka. Hit an enemy with all three blades for awesome damage. Works even against bosses.

Water Shield
Each bubble deals damage separately. I'm not a fan of the spread, when I have like 3 bubbles left I just get rid of 'em for a new shield. One full Water Shield kills the stomper enemy.

Wheel Cutter
You can hold the wheel in front of you as a shield. Touch a wall with the wheel in front of you and it'll take you wheeee... up. Many rooms are cut short with this, because sometimes there's no time or space to call Rush before enemies show up. In a particular tower level later this is freaking awesome.

Rush Coil and Jet combo
A trick introduced in Mega Man 9, where you jump on Rush Coil and immediately switch to Rush Jet to land on it really high. In Mega Man 10 this can be used, for example, to reach the top path in Nitro Man's stage (as an added tidbit, notice that up there you may shoot the red switches to cancel the trucks temporarily).

By the way, the three secret weapons in the game were leaked. They're three exclusive weapons from the Game Boy Mega Man games. So the bosses of the Special Stages are probably the exclusive GB bosses.

Yeah they found the sprites in the game. Can't wait to fight Punk again. Cool

Beat Pump Man and Solar Man on hard, going to continue tomorrow. Did Blind's dungeon in ALTTP.

Quote from Quietus:

Shit, thanks. When I tried to increase my amount of bombs after I got the 50 upgrade I got told to have reached my maximum number of wishes. Thought that would count for both bombs and arrows, so I almost missed the final upgrade. : /

Quote from Quietus:

Nah, I had already gotten them by the time of my last ALTTP update. The treasure hunt was kinda weird, with red rupees being hidden freaking everywhere. That could have been a way to get off some rupees. Same goes for the sword hardening, which is enormously cheap with 10 rupees. D:

How do I get the bottle from the guy infront of the desert, btw? I remember he's the one to obtain the final bottle from, but I can't figure out how its working anymore. : / That even though I've gotten the hint about him being good at picking locks.

Ugh, the Mega Man 10 challenges sure become impossibly difficult by the time you reach bosses on Hard. Pump, Commando and Chill were really annoying, easily 40+ attempts. Not only you're not allowed to take hits, you must beat them with the Buster, which makes the fights longer and chaotic. LOTS of luck involved.

I have five Robot Masters down, let's see if I can get the other three tonight. I hear Nitro is the stuff of nightmares.

Ryu:  In the Dark World, go to the Blacksmith's Hut.  Inside should be an odd-looking treasure chest.  Grab it, and take it with you back to the thief in the Light World.  The chest won't stop following you unless you dash or jump off a cliff.

I think if you pound all the stakes outside the Blacksmith Hut (Dark World), it opens a cavern leading to a piece-of-heart as well.

Thanks. Got the heart piece already, but must have overseen the chest. Maybe it's just not there if the blackshmith is following you.

It's in the damaged version of their house in the Dark World immediately after you've returned him.  If you transported him to the Light World outside their house, then you can't miss it, but doing so elsewhere means it's easy to miss.

No. He's just a freaking asshole. Took me the longest to beat.

Gold crown'd all Hard versions of Robot Masters in Challenge Mode. That was intense, lots of luck involved. Chill Man almost made me kill myself, which is quite ironic.

I did find out that you can use special weapons during those fights, as long as you don't hit the boss with them, but I was at my last Robot Master when I noticed that. It was against Solar Man H, I used Wheel Cutter to float past him when he Mario-64-long-jumped to my corner, then Water Shield to block the flame shower.

Nitro Man H fight was absolutely incredible, I wish there was a replay feature.

I'll try the final five bosses tomorrow, then I can proceed with an Easy mode speed-run for the speed achievement and to unlock Easy versions of bosses on Challenge Mode.

Rockman Rockman's Yellow Devil really wasn't that hard at all, just took me a few tries getting the fixed pattern. Still prefer the boss when he's got a random pattern to react to, though.

Nice find, that'll definitely help with doing the hard challenges. Should make Nitoro Man somewhat easy if you can just shoot his wheels.

Dunno, what ticked me off enough was how they added the sound of Link shouting HAH! when attacking.

Did 2:29 on Sheep Man, and did Chill and Nitro on Hard.
