I finally got around to watching your new segments. Nicely done overall. I don't understand how I missed the door "shortcut" (you open it with the twisting-puzzle) in Elysia Security Station, on the way back from Screw Attack...

In segment 18, I love how you screw attacked through the 2 glass panels just before the landing site. Didn't know you could do that!In case you didn't know, you can bsj up the elevators on Elysia (the ones by the landing sites) saving a few seconds. Also, pretty obvious but in segment 19 that missed platform cost you about 10 seconds.

Btw, you're already at least 2 minutes faster than Paraxade's run so your 2:38 estimate makes sense. Keep it up!

Alright so i just got a 1:42 elysia seed landing but hoping to push it down to a 1:41 if i can figure out a faster stategy for protecting the spire. Im memorizing where the ships go so i can be sitting waiting for them. Maybe my memory just isn't very good here yet but it seems like maybe 2 or 3 of the ships go to random locations.

Another thing i noticed, about zell99 and paraxade runs is that their times seem to get worse as they got later into the game. I have been getting almost a minute better on most of zell's times in my latest segments and now im noticing that im starting to do that to paraxades run too so maybe i will be closer to 2:30 than i originally thought.

Aren't there only three assault ships that you have to take out before the cutscene takes over? The dropships don't matter beyond adding in some pirates I believe, so you could easily avoid them if you wanted to.

How many e-tanks do you have? You could very easily stay in Hypermode while taking the assault ships on and not even have to worry about the dropships and the pirates. Then again, I'm not sure what your plan of attack is anyway so you could very well be doing this already.

Actually i've found that you must kill a couple of pirates before the next assualt apears.
My last defense took forever. I ran around waiting for the ship, and it never came. Then I killed 2 pirates and POOF it came around the spire...

That's true, I had to do the same thing after the 1st assault ship for the 2nd one to appear.

I put more effort in the earlier segments and accepted a lot more mistakes in the second half of the game. There are quite a few speed tricks I didn't use to make my life easier, and boss battles were not very optimised (didn't use Paraxade's strat for fast Helios.) I wanted to get over with my run, I don't enjoy spending too much time on a single segment anyway. I suspect the same thing happened to Paraxade; he did his run in a 24-hour span.

Keep up your good work, you'll end up with a nice result, and I can't wait to see your next segments :)

My gosh these next two segments are long. Its getting harder and harder to continue this test run cause so many new little timesavers have been found and i also have thought of a couple even smaller ones on my own. I did finally manage a save of 1:41 saved at elysia seed. It must be like a 1:41.58 or something cause i had a lot of good segments and never got 1:41 and didn't think my last one was any faster. Oh well whatever works. The next two segments are currently uploading on youtube and i will be sure to get them on the first page as soon as they are online.

I have also been wondering how death affects the in game timer cause i remember Echoes timer resetting to the closest minute of the last time you saved after dieing thus cutting off precious seconds but this only worked on the final boss of echoes cause that was the only place that would reset you like that.

Deaths don't add to the ingame timer.

Sorry Fano7 my brother is trying to figure out if when you die and it resets you, since it doesn't add to the ingame timer would it by chance reset the seconds on the ingame timer to :00 thus dieing on purpose to lower the ingame time.

Segments 20 and 21 are up. Now time to kick helios butt and hope for a 1:43 save.

Nice segments. I especially liked how you shot the 3rd bomb component from far away, didn't know you could do it (and my seekers tend to always miss for some odd reason). Your spire fight was also very quick and well executed, I could tell you knew where the ships would come from ;) Keep it up less than 1 hour to go!

After beating Rundas in segment 7, you can also return to your ship through the Gel Purification Site, and then lower the pipe at the Gel Refinery site. This will make segment 7 slower, but it will make segment 10 a lot faster. Did you test if this was slower/faster?

the pipe saves as much time as it costs to get.

Well i finished my test run, final time 2:34 and could probably push it down to a 2:33 with a better last segment. I will get all the segments up when my video editing computer is back online but its not looking good, windows on a compaq fails. Someday i will maybe get windows put on my macbook pro and life will be much better or even better avisynth will be compatible with mac.

So with all of the errors i made throughout this run, i definitly see sub 2:30 possible and a very optimized run at 2:20 with the current speed tricks. I plan on doing a real run on this game sometime in the future when tricks and sequence breaking have slowed down more. So good luck to all those who may attempt to beat this time, i believe it will take some effort but not a lot to accomplish a better time and i can't wait to see it done.

Wow i just watched my older segments today to see how well i really did and to see how much i have improved. I really think the first 10 or so segments could use a lot of revamping, especially my segment 5, that was just embarrasing. I guess thats what test runs are for.

well, if you want some encouragement, think of it this way ... it would be creepier if you didn't improve, meaning no matter how much you played you would never get any better. especially given how new this game still is that would be really bad, so it's good you can see marked improvement.

Are there any completed runs yet? It's pretty much the only way I'm going to see the game.

Well i have most of my run up on the first post. As soon as i get it from the dvd to youtube you can watch the rest of it. As for a real run, i don't even know of anyone besides paraxade that is really making any attempts at the moment. I am secretly hoping that sparky or kip are hard at work on a masterpiece. But ya anyways my test run is the only veiwable run at the moment, im thinking about sending it to nate to put it up on archive for everyone who can't stand youtube or just cannot use it but since my second segment somehow magically does not have sound i am very hesitant to even do that.

I will send it then, but first im going to try to shave off 1 more minute over thanksgiving break cause i just realized that i can bomb space jump screw attack in command courtyard. It was found so long ago that i completely forgot it and i still have a save right after helios so it will work out perfectly.

I can use youtube at home, yeah.  Can't at school.  I prefer just normal video files though..but if youtube is all there is then that's okay, since it's useable right now.
