The door thing appears to happen to everyone, because I had to leave the room and come back in before the target would show up as well.

Edit: I guess I'll start adding in my times here now that I have a new run going:

Bryyo - 0:27
Elysia - 1:07
Homeworld - 2:12
Before Hazard Skip - 2:31

I just collected the Spiderball and landed back on the Homeworld at my Hazard Skip time. I went from landing on PH, to X-Ray, to Gandrayda/Voltage, to Elysia/Spiderball, and back to PH in 19 minutes. I know that can be sped up a little because my Gandrayda fight lasted a little longer than it should've of. She just doesn't like to stand still at all does she?

So from what I remember I'm around 25 minutes faster than my previous run at this point. Since I'm about 15 minutes behind Zell upon landing on the Homeworld, that would put us right at the three hour mark if you land on PH around the same time he did.

Edit 2: Before Phaaze - 3:06

Edit 3: Final Time - 03:15 (31%) Normal

So if we take that time into account, and take off the 15 minute difference between zell and myself, there's your three hour mark. grin new

Nice times, Prime Hunter. Quite an improvement over your last run, and a very nice time for a run you did over what.. 1 or 2 days?

I was 17 minutes faster before Hazard Suit skip (2:14) so I should break the 3 hour mark. Three more segments to go for me (Valhalla, open wormhole and Phaaze). Hopefully I'll be done this weekend!

I started it last night. Wink

That's a big difference between how I play and how other speedrunners seem to play. Most of my runs are usually done in a matter of days, which is probably why my times are usually a few minutes or more slower than other people.

Depending on how I feel I may start another run before Monday and try to add some more tricks into it this time.

By the way, any further progress, craztad? The main reason I put my times there was for a comparison against the run you're doing. (And to see how much you can completely demolish my times at certain spots. Wink )

Hi everyone, im craztad's twin brother. He is in the hospital at the moment but told me to check up on this topic. He told me to take over this test run for him so when he gets out he can start a real run. He already has the next segment recorded so i will try to get that up for you guys but if bitripper doesn't work i will probably be asking for some encoding help. The save time is 0:55 on elysia. Ive only beat the game twice so i can't guarentee the quality of the run will be near as good as my brothers but i will do my best.

My bro also had a question he thought i should ask since he can't research it more thouroughly at the moment but was it any faster to get the five missle launch at once thing early than it was to get it later. I will try both ways to see which i think is faster. Anyone that has tested it, i am very willing to hear their thoughts on it.

thanks

I hope it's nothing serious and you can get well soon, craztad.

I finished my run (finally, took long enough..) So, here are all my save times for comparison. Craztad already shaved off 7 mins at Elysia Landing, which is very good!

0:13 - Norion after Generator A
0:24 - Bryyo Landing
0:31 - Fiery Airdock after Grapple Swing
0:36 - Before Rundas
0:38 - Cliftside Airdock after Rundas
0:44 - After Ship upgrade
0:49 - Thorn Jungle after destroying Fire Bryyo's generator
0:58 - After destroying Thorn Jungle's generator (at Bryyo Seed)

I don't think anyone tested it in a speedrun, but as I mentionned in another topic I don't think it saves time. Here's a copy-paste of my post:

I haven't tested it, but I don't think it would be faster. Actually it would probably end up taking about the same time, it's just that in one case you do Ship grapple -> bomb part 1 -> seeker -> bomb part 2... And with early seekers you do Seeker -> Ship grapple -> bomb part 1 -> bomb part 2. As far as I can remember, the rooms you have to go through in either cases are the same.

I'm trying a run too, just landed at the Bryyo seed. The times that I can remember are:

-0:08 after Berserker
-0:25 on Bryyo
-I think 0:34 before Rundas, not sure though
-0:53 at Bryyo seed

Sorry to hear craztad's in the hospital, hope he gets better soon. :(

So based on those times, Elysia is where I crumble. I seem to lose about 5 minutes from Norion/Bryyo and 15 from Elysia, because I'm nearly 20 minutes behind you by the time I got to the Homeworld. (Makes me feel good that I don't seem to lose anything against you there though.)

And I too hope craztad makes a quick and complete recovery as soon as he can.

The doctors say he shouldn't be there for more than three weeks.

Ive spent most of the day studying most of the tricks in the 37 or so pages of the speed tricks topic so hopefully i can put this together. Probably will need to practice most of the night cause i just looked at all of your times and oh boy do i think i got my hands full. zell99 your times are awesome. This will give me a really good standard for times i need to tie or beat. You all have just made my day, thank you.

I can give you pointers on how I did certain parts of Elysia if you can figure out which part of it you lost so much time on. There's really not that many tricks on Elysia though, climb Concourse with a bsj and climb Turbine Chamber for the first bomb component. I think those are the only speed tricks I used.

I admit my Pirate Homeworld wasn't that good. A minute could be shaved using the 2bsj in command courtyard, at least 1 min on the Demolition crew segment (my Pirate Commander fight was very slow) and a good minute on the Valhalla (took 4 tries to get the cells skip to work.. Embarassed )

Landed on the Elysia seed at 1:47. Early Seekers probably is slower because Turbine Chamber (bomb component #1 location) is just a couple rooms away from Ship Grapple. After that the path takes you pretty much straight to the Seekers.

EDIT: Pirate Homeworld landing at 1:49, so I'm 8 minutes ahead of zell at this point.

EDIT 2: Saved at Pirate Homeworld after Spider at 2:05. 9 minutes ahead of zell.

EDIT 3: Pirate Homeworld Seed at 2:23. 10 minutes ahead of zell.

Ok i got my brothers segment 12 up, well its processing
12:
save time 0:55

I got through segment 13 and its processing too, hope i did ok
13:
save time 1:00

once i figure out his password for this forum i will update the first post but no luck yet, and i got his youtube one on my first try, one point for the goofy twin thing.

Good times paraxade, you are both fast and efficient at the same time. My girlfriend keeps calling every 20 minutes so progress gets slowed extremely.

Just got Pirate Codes, saved on the Valhalla at 2:32. Not really sure whether I'm 10 or 11 minutes ahead of zell at this point, since I saved on the Valhalla and not on Pirate Homeworld. I screwed up the e-cell skip four or five times. :P I'll finish up this run and post my clear time.

EDIT: Phaaze open @ 2:36; 11 minutes ahead of zell.

EDIT 2: Finished. 30%, 2:43. Not really sure how my Phaaze was three minutes faster than zell's, but the final time is 14 minutes faster. Not bad considering you all are apparently doing yours in the space of a couple days/weeks and I did the entire thing today. :P I redid a few segments, but for the most part I took mistakes unless I made a really big or stupid one. I'd expect a fully optimized run to get around 2:35, maybe 2:30.

Thats awesome paraxade. I just made it past ghor with a time of 1:13 so im sitting 9 minutes ahead of zell99 already. I should hopefully make it into the 2:30's.

Since I have very little hope of competing with you guys at this point, I moved on to trying to perfect a normal 22% run. 0:25 Bryyo landing, which strangely enough is the same exact time that Paraxade had there in his 2:43 run.

Hmm... maybe I will go back and try another any% normal after I finish this one up.

I've been watching this run, and I have to ask: Is there any reason both of you let the map open? Sure, sometimes it doesn't waste any time because a door is loading, but other times it just seems to do nothing BUT waste time.

I love how you use hyper ball to open doors.. I read about it on this forum but didn't think to use it in my run. The way you handled the grapple points in Construction Bay in seg. 14 was nice, I wasn't able to do that (had to swing back and forth). Good job overall, keep it up!

Another comment on Construction Bay; instead of shooting at the shriekbats from afar, you can go hyper and swing right through them.

Yeah, I was the first one to state that, but I'm sure it was already known cause it's so simple.

welcome back there.. you were aiming for 2:29 right?

I don't know how much there is to catch up on, but judging from where you're at you might be able to make use of some boss vids I made a while back.

http://files.filefront.com/heliosavi/;8677785;/fileinfo.html
http://files.filefront.com/gandraydaavi/;8698793;/fileinfo.html

Also there was a 2 round method posted for AU first form.. maybe you know it already. Basically you rip the armor and immediately shoot a missile, slightly charged shot (or 4 uncharged) then another missile.

Also have a vid of DS in 40 seconds, but I don't know if that's very special since it isn't very hard to get. Plus it seems partly luck anyway.. sometimes she merges with the clones faster than others.

Hey i finally got segments 16 through 19 up and i updated the first page.

Edit: Those are some very good battles kip, i will definitly do my best to kill them that fast. I kind of doubt that my final time will break 2:30 but i do see a well done segmented run doing it cause this test run is looking like it will end with about 3:38 give or take a minute or two.
