Hello everyone! I am brand new to these forums and I am looking forward to sharing my love of the Metroid series with every one else on this site. Please forgive me if I am a noobie, I will get used to it though! My fist topic I wanted to post was on something I was having trouble on Super Metroid. This has probably been posted before, but I have never been able to get to the test room. Me and my friend Supuh as you may know him were talking today at his house. He bought Super Metroid on his Wii and we got into engaging conversations on the game. We got to a part in the conversation where he mentioned that Super Metroid was practically made for Sequence breaking and he said "For example, remember the test room I showed you on the emulator for certain textures?" I did remember this around two years ago he showed me a room in Super Metroid where there were all of these different tiles of textures in the game. And there was this code of letters and numbers on a wall which he mentioned to this day no one knows what they mean. Any way, he said there was an access point to this Test Room he couldn't remember Supuh told me about. He said "In ONE of the morph ball tunnels in the game, you can use Crystal Spark so that you can automatically go into a kneeling position in the tunnel shoot a specific, hidden missle block and fall into that test room. Sorry for the rambling by the way. I just wanted to know if people could help me on some information about that. Any would certainly be appreciated by me and start me getting exploring!

I could be wrong but it sounds to me like he's really talking about how to skip Spore Spawn.

If I recall correctly, he's referring to a hack like three years ago. I don't think it's in the actual game, someone just coded a method to get into the room from an area. But as far as I remember, you can only actually see the room if you're using SMILE or something similar and testing it out.

Yeah I do remember him getting there a really long time  ago, it was either Fusion or Super Metroid.....

Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
yeah. That was a hack-in-a-zmv that deskjockey_ made. It's not in the original game.
The code it gives you was inputtable to an IRC bot as proof that you found the secret room, and let you also leave a message. That IRC bot no longer exists, so the code is now useless.

There is an actual test room in the game that has a very large variety of blocks in it. It's inaccessible without a PAR code though. There is also a small incomplete Norfair room which has nothing interesting in it - a simple snapshot of it would tell you everything about it.

Could anybody reupload the zmv/zst for deskjockey_'s hacked room with reflectors and bangs and stoke?  The old links are dead and I like messing around with stuff like that.

Thanks!

GAH! I was wondering how all those debug roos in Fusion connected. Nice.

I Think I know what you're talking about..
Unless I'm mistaken, the European ROM consists a secret passage somewhere in Maridia. It's a small morph-ball tunnel with a Super Missile block in the floor, so it can't be shot (Because you can't shoot anything while in the morph ball duh) Unless you do the Crystal Flash so you can duck and aim downright and shoot your way to the room with the Stoke, the reflectors and an offset number made out of tiles.

I'm not exactly sure, but I'm sure I've seen an image of someone watching the tunnel with the X-ray scope, revealing the secret Super Missile Block.

It's a hacked save state, not the european ROM.

He hacked it in with the save state and movie.

Yeah the fusion one is the exact same room. I wish I could see that save state. Aren't those blocks in Fusion from Wario World???

Wario Land 4, Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission all work on the same basic engine. The debug rooms were probably made before graphics were; to test Samus' abilities, clip data, layers etc.
