Many thanks ark. I would have never (seen it) thought of clicking on the magnifying glass. I missed the link to users at the top because (dumb me) i thought it would just do the exact same thing as clicking the arrow next to it.

Why does this forum output HTML pages only? It's pretty ugly, I was told this community is awsome.. I saw some videos and they looked awesome! But....this lack of PHP pages to easily navigate the forums really turn me off. What the hell was this creator thinking!?! :/

but unless there's some dynamic server action behind it. This format is going to be very costly in filesizes it's silly.

i'm not sure what you mean by any of this. there is plenty of server action - it's a web forum (though we don't use php). of course it uses html ... so does every page you see with the extension .php.

php and html are different types of languages (markup and scripting), used for completely different things.

humanforms urls were a big thing for taiga forum - finally urls that make sense rather than some seemingly random shit that people may or may not understand. makes it hella easier to split/merge topics too.

gonna have to respectfully disagree with you on this.

This is an ergonomics point.

As long as you avoid making people type the actual url, humanforms is fine.  The point is also to not have to remember the url address, but also to gain quick-enough access to the url you want without too many motions with the mouse/keyboard.

So, make the forum/any site so the user can quick access to what they want without too many motions.

Question: Is it easier/less resource-consuming to maintain THIS forum (Taiga), or the previous type?

impossible to say. what i can say is that i've never had any problems with load on the machine due to http or database queries with taiga forum while i have had them with smf (and every other open source forum) due to stupid things like allowing users to search for *. with taiga forum this is less of a user or admin concern though because i handle all the hosting issues myself. in other words, it's my job to make sure no server running taiga forum gets overloaded because i control all servers in the world running taiga forum.

when do people ever type out a forum url though? i have never once done this - i know that doesn't mean no one else does, but i really doubt it. you'd always just copy and paste the link you want to share. that said, the purpose of humanform urls isn't to make them easier to remember but rather to make it easy to know what you're about to click on.

'Sorry, a database error occurred.'

When I try to change my profile... I get one of those classic bad boys... what jolly good fun!

I waited a few days to say anything... but its still giving me the same 'one-two' to the face.

It happened when I was using that new feature with the profile pics.  I got to about... 6 pics and it froze up, so I went to a different page, and tried to go back, and BAM!

Something of a bug report maybe? I went and viewed this thread as a guest and the last page was using Willow style. Other pages in the thread were using Miikii. It didn't happen this way anymore once I logged in. After logging out and checking the thread again, it's using Miikii as it should. This might be a hiccup on my part rather than a flaw with Taiga but I thought I'd mention it. To my knowledge, I didn't have Willow cached at the time. (I clear my cache at the end of every day and this was my first forum visit today)

edit: tried it again and it didn't happen. hm...

if it was tf caching it (which it probably was) then it's already solved because i totally disabled tf's caching system for the next release (not pushed out yet). it also might have been fork screwing with the settings but i doubt it.

curious what would have happened had you hit hard refresh (ctrl-r or whatever).

try clearing it out and hitting the preview button. waiting a few seconds after you do that may also work. this is actually very difficult to solve because i always want to err on the side of accidentally keeping a post instead of accidentally deleting it. thanks for reporting though.

Grrr... that explains why I'm suddenly having problems with everyone's names.

Never liked this day much, and even less so because of personal matters two years ago. Has an entirely different meaning to me now.

Edit: Hmm... do we show up as ourselves when we look at our own posts, or did I not change into someone else?

Some of us haven't.  I noticed myself and Kenny didn't have any changes.
