It is pretty old, catnap introduced that one among with several others lots of time ago. As for why JXQ did not use it in his TAS, it is faster to just walljump up the shaft.

Wow Lance, you really should be aware of things before talking wrong about them.
Catnap used a different method to charge, which was not short enough to get it to work in the showed etecoon room. It was only possible with my method there.

See yourself in the announcement topic of the Shortest Charge.

Also I should note that even without getting the PB refills in the previous room, the walljump strategy is only 1-2 frames faster than the shinespark method here. If you get the PB refills though, shinesparking would be ~15-20 frames faster.

I like Big Butts and I can not lie
About the 49'12

I've just tried hex editing some frames into the intro to manipulate all the steam and the ceres door and ridley(1), after going though 189 frames of stalling the intro. I've not been able to get to the elevator, I did manage to get really really close once, but I got hit by a steam in the elevator room

(1) If the Ridley fight were to be changed to not have anything that can be affected by randomness (such as damage boosting) then the odds of desync would be much lesser

Like in his avatar.

I would like to ask you guys to not turn this thread into a chat. I understand that you like to increase your post count, but I don't like receiving a reply notification on my mail and go here in hope to read something interesting or useful, and see another post with zero such content. That also applies to SMR thread.

Woops, I guess my memory serves me wrong. I just intuitionally remembered that the etecoon shaft was one of the places that catnap introduced in his pack of possible short charge places. I did not remember this short charge - shortest charge -thing so well. My bad. I knew that you used it in your RBO but I got a little confused.

Stylistically thinking, I think the shinespark is better looking, but there is no point using it if you don´t need those PB refills. You would just drain your energy for nothing too. I was wondering why JXQ did not use it in his v1 100% run because he drained his energy for the SS Super missile CF later on. It was not know then yet?

True, I don't want this thread to slip into a spamoblivion getting locked.

Anyway. I was planing to at some point in time (perhaps when waiting for tonski and kriole to finish there impossible runs so I could continiue on mine) make a TAS using the old ingame route used in terimakashis latest run, would this be appretiated or is there any other type of run (not 100% or a update to my any% with the same route) that you would think be more fun.

Hmm, I'm not sure an any% TAS using Teri's route makes much practical sense… You could make an ingame-oriented 100% run, though, or something of entirely different category (RBO?).

You could make up your own route. You could do a glitchless run. Mabey a no sequence breaking run.  You could even go strictly for entertainment (even though I'm not sure how). But above all, have fun. Wink

No it would not, but it wasn't really the point (Not planing to get it published). I would do it because there are many new tricks that have been discovered since his run and would be interested in seeing how it would look like. Though if taking the maridia shortcut to tourian it should be possible to get 00:23 with enough optimization.

Would I make a 100% run I would most likely aim for realtime, except for maybe a few itemchanges for ingame gain, a fully ingame-oriented 100% would IIRC use the same route only with more pause screens.

That would be something perhaps, sure would be interesting to see the time on it. Though it would also contain a lot of backtracking...

I would never do a TAS of something I find boring, the reason I asked you was for inspiration.

I've always wondered what a 50% route would look like.

Shit.

Though really it could be at least mildly interesting, you could collect a lot of items that would make the run more interesting while skipping all the "really" out of the way items. Nothing I would do though.

I back to TASing, as Kraid screwed up my hack, look in the smile help thread. Anyways, can I get some help on the mozooh jump? I either don't make it far enough to pass the ledge or I hit the other ledge. Help?

Judging by how it's already 4th or so question that could be answered by a brief glance on the memwatcher screen, I'm taking a guess that you haven't ever used it at all.

What do you mean by that?

If it is easy to reprogram or not or if it is easy to use and understand, the former I guess not (or well relatively to other stuff maybe but nothing for people without a good knowledge in programing) the later, yes it is very easy to understand as long as you have the right addresses.
