I don't remember how I did it, but yesterday, I got stuck (as a morph ball) behind the robot leaned against the right wall in that one room of the inactive Wrecked Ship near the save point. This was just after fighting Phantoon, too, because I'm an idiot who doesn't immediately save after such a battle (I'm playing for leisure, no speed run or anything going on here).

I had to reset the game, because nothing seemed to get me out - not even manic button-mashing.

Waiting takes too long

after killing phantoon they move around though, was this one just walking in place? and bombs should work to make him move, shouldn't they?

Oops, it was before Phantoon. The robot wasn't moving. I was thinking about another dumb mistake that was post-Phantoon (went to the right-side ship exit and ventured to Maridia, but died shortly thereafter.

Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder

If you go and get stuck behind the robot before killing Phantoon, you have to use a crystal flash right next to it to get back out (two if you get stuck in the lower dead-end, not the path to the super missiles)

To get stuck behind the robot, you just need to break the blocks behind it (with a power bomb), then jump, and morph into a ball *just* before you land on the robot. Of course, it's not a good thing to do seeing as it's just a dead end - the super missiles don't appear till you kill Phantoon.
