A short video of the beginnings of my next hack. It displays a few tile edits (a lot of which aren't final), as well as one of my pickup edits. The hack is going to be retro-themed. Keep your eyes peeled for the Mario-esque pipes.
I had planned to at least do the enemies, but with Samus, it'll depend entirely on how easy it is once I start. I presume that a lot of the frames will be mirrored to a degree, and since it's retro-themed, I reckon it'll be fine to actually just mirror them, which'll save on some of the labour, so fingers crossed.

If you mean the blue tiles, they aren't finalised yet, and will probably have a little more detail when they're done. But in saying that, the flowers were one of the first tile edits I made, and will probably be going, along with the grass, as I want all grassy tiles to have the same look, and the taller strands and flowers look odd. Thanks for the comment anyway.
I would suggest altering the tile slightly, giving it less 'base', making the claw part nearer the centre of the 16x16 tile, as when you fire the grapple beam in-game, the beam will attach to the centre of the tile, not the bottom, and it may look odd.
Haven't posted anything in here for a while, so here goes. Been working on a tile set for the inside of the space pirate ship (no, not the wrecked ship). I figured they'd be high tech insects, so the inside would be techy/metallic but organic looking at the same time. Below are two shots taken of the same screen... The tiles haven't changed, but I changed the FX1 for a different mood. I know which I prefer, but some people differ on opinion, so I'm posting both.
Thoughts welcome on both the graphic set and the fx1 to go with (though I'll probably use both to an extent):
I like the second shot better Jathys. The first may be more colorful, but the second is more dark and mysterious, like I would expect a Space Pirate ship to be. Tileset looks great by the way. I love that outer fringe you've drawn.
@Jathys: I like the first one better. The second's colors make it feel like there's a style quality clash between it and Samus + the Space Pirate (seems sub-SNES, though maybe it wouldn't in motion or with more tiles in view). First one's palettes remind me of the colors in A Link at the Past for some reason...
I haven't had much progress recently, but I am still working on my own hack...

2 things: 1, the background looks all messed up on the left side. And 2, doors always need to be on the edge of a red scroll, or else the tiles won't line up correctly when you go through the door. Other than that, it looks good. I like the color of the foreground.
