I'm having an argument with my friend about this, and I can't seem to find the old topic.  His main reason is that "It looks like a Core-X when it dies."  I told him:

1- Because the X reproduce asexually, Tallon IV would be overrun by X parasites whithin days of the meteor's crash.  He says the phazon "Somehow neutralizes this".

2- In the fight against Prime, it creates metroids, correct?  a- an X parasite can't create Metroids and b- if they're X parasites, doesn't that defeat his own argument about the phazon?  And if it IS an X, Samus's neural systems would be overloaded looooong before Fusion.

Yup, you got it. Those are pretty much the main reasons.

Also, the other side has an incredibly weak argument. "It looks like an X" doesn't cut it. You look like a monkey. Are you a monkey? I didn't think so.  There's canonical evidence to disprove that Prime is an X, but there's nothing in the canon that even remoteley suggests it.

Balance? Metroids eat X, not the other way around. That's why there was no X on SR388 during M2, because the Metroids were eating them.

They didn't just pull it out of their ass. I think the Super Metroid manual, and possibly the Metroid 1 manual, says the Metroids were created by an ancient and powerful race, which fits the Chozo exactly.

Anyone else think I should disable that particular censor? As comical as it is, I don't think that word needs a-censorin'.

actually, yes, I did get it from the japanese E-manga which is hosted over on www.metroid.jp (and is 100% canon)
however, its currently stored on my harddrive, and i have no clue where i found the second one translated.  I know it was a link from this board however...

Even by looking at the pretty pictures without the translation you can understand the majority of it.. but certain things like the Alkaloid.  (source of energy for metroids and the suit.. i believe) are only explained through th text.

Oh, but what if Metroid Prime is both a metroid AND a Core X ? They met on that asteroid, and the metroid started eating the X, but while ti was hapening they both got mutated by the phazon resulting in that horrible tentacle mess that is Metroid Prime.

Or maybe the "prime" part actually means something. Maybe it's the first metroid? Maybe it's the source of both phazon and metroids....

I wonder why nintendo hasn't made a pokemon that resembles a metroid yet, it has evolutions, the first stage is cute, it seems like a perfect match.
