After 2 full years in the making, and several Restarts on the project, it has finally been completed.  Click one of the download options, READ the READ ME, and apply the patch.

This ia Version 1.0 of the hack.... so...
Please PM me ANY discovered bugs (places where you get stuck perminently, crahses, garble)

no more deatils other than enjoy, and if you have any other questions then consult the read me

thank you all for playing!

***NOTE***  this patch is for [JU] versions of the rom only, also ZSNES1.4x DOES NOT work with my hack because of errors in the program.... all future versions of ZSNES will work.

I'm definately looking forward to it.  You and Kejardon are doing some pretty wicked stuff.

Question for Kejardon...what program(s) do you use to decompress/compress the ROM to take a gander at the assembly?  The Lunar ones?  I currently only have access to a Mac, so I'm not quite familiar with all the up-to-date utilities being used to hack SNES ROMS.  Such info would be rather useful once I get my PC back, however.  Ha...and while my inexperience with ROM hacking may hinder me from getting anywhere, I think it'd be interesting to see what's goin' on behind the screen.  Any help that'd lead me in the right direction would be great.

Keep it up, you guys!

Thanks for the enthusiasm!!  Helps motivate me to continue maping the game out.

Currently all I use is a Mac to edit my hack.  Virtual PC is my best friend!  I simply share my SM rom folder on my HD, and have the rom to edit on placed on the VPC in a folder with smile (and like 20 backups)

then when yu want to test, Drag the rom over to the Mac folder, open snes9x and load the rom up to see instant changes

But, whoa man. Doesn't VPC cost lotsa money?
Or have you cracked it?
Anyway, if I'm planning on getting it, does it work on a iBook G4 933 MHz (640 MT DDR SDRAM)

Well I might not be at liverty to say.......  the VPC i used was.... Purchased with a very good... coupon, yeah,....

As for the g4 bit, yeah it should work, but if you want to use it on a g5 (like me) you'll need version 7..... Also you'll need a windows installation CD, sure it emulates a pc, but does not have windows =P

You don't need to compress or decompress anything. The code is easily interchangable with the hexadecimal you see in any hex-editor. Which is all I use for small, simple hacks.
I use notepad to write assembly and plan out things. I use snesedit (a DOS hex-editor especially made for hacking snes games) for inputting and browsing through code and values. I use MathOnNapkin's dissassembler to make it easier to read through large chunks of code. And I ocassionally use asm2hex, a fairly simple assembler with absolutely no documentation. :P The only time I use it is when it would be a pain to do the assembly by hand, because there's a *ton* of code, or branches that reach real far and would be a pain to count, or if there are a lot of opcodes I need that I don't have memorized.

For rom assembly hacking, you don't usually need very complex programs. First thing though, you should *really* learn about assembly. There aren't many good tutorials online for teaching snes assembly though, most of them assume you know basic nes assembly.
If you IM me though, I can probably help you out with learning asm. It's surprisingly simple once you start understanding it.

here's a great mac hex editor. i've used it for making minor corrections to the framerate in avi files and it's worked great.

As far as hex goes, I use HexEditTextWrangler's hex dump is also useful.

12 rooms in 4 days? If they have the same awesome level design as the rooms before, than that's cool.

Well, the hack sems to be quite awesome. Even though money would probably be a problem aswell(I would probably have to buy a NTSC Snes),I sadly don't really know how to dump it onto a real cartridge.
There is one page(http://snesdev.romhack.de/) which would probably be helpful, but I have "never" built anything like this and am afraid I would do it wrong. :(

Anyway,keep up the good work.

Wow, I never thought it was possible to get roms into carts, and well I understand XtraX when he says he is afraid he would do things wrong.
Drewseph, well, since in my opinion nothing should be wrong why not publish it whenever you want, but your rooms may have problems, so you may have to ask beta testers so you would give the patch to them first :> .
Lol kidding. I'll be patient Rolling Eyes .

=P  I'll be sure to release it to a few for testing once the remianing bugs are worked out.....

Try saving a file in any hack, if the auto map was edited, then when you reset the rom, and load the saved game, your auto map will not be acurratley revealed, because the game only saves Hardcoded tiles in the map screen.... these will have to be worked out..... manually >_>

That is indeed awesome Shocked (even though you said Norfair would be that big before).

Man, maybe it will somehow be possible to play hacks on Rev without much trouble? I guess we won't know before at least E3. I want it on console Crying or Very sad

Also,in your "old" Norfair map, there was a room linked to Maridia (iirc). Is that in your new map aswell? Might sound like a stupid question, but I always thought it would be cool if there would be more than one way into Norfair.

There is no way you'll be able to run the hack through the Revolution.  And I seriously doubt anyone would be able to get a hold of the tools necessary to run it on a SNES.

Sorry, dude.  Emulator get.

You can run NES games on GC, you can run SNES games on the GC and you can even run PS2 games on the GC.

PS2 games -> don't know , but there has to be a linux ps2 emulator so I think so.

SNES -> Snes9xGC is out already so you can play SNES roms on GC, you just need the SDLoader and a SD Memory Card, which can be obtained at Amazon.com
