Yeah, the extra detail in the rooms is seriously helpful, and looks great.
I also like DMantra's little Metroid logo.
Not wishing to be the bug-hunter again, but about three or four rooms up and left from Ridley is a yellow line between two blue ones. Is this intentionally lower then the others?

This is a PB wall. I've made a little correction. I think it's better like this. Thank you.
Anyway, changing the subject, there are two ways to successfully patch an ips file:
1) Put the patch and the rom in the same folder, and make sure the rom and patch have the same name and you're good to go. The rom can be Eris.smc and the patch can be Eris.ips, for example.
Or you can just do this
2) Download Lunar IPS. Double click it and click on Apply IPS Patch. Find the ips patch you want to use and click Open. Now find the rom you want it patched to and click Open. There, now you can play the hack, as it was successfully patched.
Note about the Eris ips patch: Make sure it's patched with a headered rom. grin new
I could play it fine in my house with Super metroid [JU], sometimes the game would freeze but for a few seconds, now I'm at a friends house, using the same rom and same emulator but the game freezes after i choose a file... how can i check if the metroid version is the correct?
i registered on these forums just to thank dmantra for making this. i've since recommended it to many people i know. i'm just amazed by the level design (and tile manipulations!). this is the type of game i've been waiting to play for years, but which has been deemed technically and economically "unsound" in the official industry for its total reliance on the player. very, very well done. you know what you're doing. i await any other projects that might emerge down the line.
Hahah! What a prat, posting that. First off, it's not a fan-made metroid game, it's a hack. All this guys done is given Eris more publicity, look up metroid eris on google and loads of sites now link to his stupid post. There is no nintendo ban hammer coming down on the hack community, they a) don't care and b) can't stop it. The only time nintendo could even step foot into the scene is if it was a fan made game built from scratch using pretty much every precious icon they have, and then trying to sell it.

Thanks for registering just to say that applo! You've made me feel fuzzy.
I've recently put all the rooms together to form a high quality map of Planet Eris. I did this mostly for myself, just to see it as a finished piece of art. Not a game, just some random world to look at.
So how big is it? Well.. the dimensions are 9998x7693 to be exact. My computer froze several times making this a royal pain in the ass to complete.
Here's a tiny preview:
Download it here: http://digital-mantra.com/Planet Eris (9998x7693).PNG
You can (I suspect that's what DMantra did), but it doesn't display any of the items, so you'll have to add them manually. I expect that was your plan anyway, so you should be fine.
I think i got stuck or something... I'm in that... frozen ruins place with the pirates and almost every OHKO enemy i can find...
Where i came is blocked, i bomb jumped up a shaft in a place with pirates and got to a dead end.
went down all the way and found a room with 2 ridley statues, some seahorses and this huge ass jumping enemy that 1hko me too...
room the the right, the're this weird thingy in the middle surrounded by walls, and on top there's a power bomb barrier, same with the bottom, what it seems the only way out is blocked by a power bomb block...
So far i have 8 missiles, evasion and the grapple beam... what did i do wrong ;o;
Edit: I somehow bombed my way out, still clueless where to go...
Yeah, you aren't supposed to head that way for a bit. You can use Evasion to break bombable blocks though (it's just Screw Attack with the Space Attack graphic and no damage), which should make getting back out easier.
Grapple Beam unlocks your next key item, which you can find by
Dmantra i must say that this hack is epic!!! i know its a mini hack but by the gods just think if it was a full hack wow!! you have gave me so many idea's that it not even funny!!!! (don't worry i won't copy)
i mixed the control freak and eris and its a cool mix!!! keep up the good work!!
if only i knew you guys for real life.....metroid for life until i die!
The ideas were good. But I think it's a bit infected by a how-was-I-supposed-to-know-it-was-there-? syndrome. After the first missiles, I was calmly heading toward my only direction for now. Oh surprise, behind the door is a Metroid, waiting for me ! Woohoo ! Suck my energy as much as you want while I'm trying to kill you hopelessly. Yeah, I'm not a big fan there. You just don't know where you have to go and if you go in the bad direction, you get head-raped by Metroids or turn into a pancake by Space Pirates.
