I'm totally stuck at this point.  In the northern part of the map i need PB's or supers to advance, in the south theres a big yellow blob blocking my way.  A hint would be nice.

Im having difficulty patching this game.  khaaaan

Im using Super Metroid (JU) [!].smc and im using Lunar IPS to patch it.

My rom is headered and Im getting this message each time:

Possible IPS File Problem
The file has been patched, but the data in the IPS file appears to be truncated or misaligned.

Anyone have a clue on to fix this? I really want to play this.  Crying or Very sad

Is it Lunar IPS that is giving you the error message? 

Try re-downloading the IPS or maybe even finding a newer version of lunar IPS

I might add that you don't need to 'apply' the patch anyway.  Just give the .smc and the .ips the same name, place them in the same folder, and the emulator will soft-patch it anyway.

I redownloaded the rom, Lunar IPS, and the patch. But still nothing happens, just brings me to slot selection then black screens after.

I got Lunar IPS v1.01.

Let me quess:
The file size of the IPS patch is only ~50% of what it's supposed to be (640 Kb).
Just keep redownloading the patch. I did it about 5 times, and just when i was going to give up:
success  Very Happy. So, just keep redownloading the patch.

Edit:
I've been playing this for some time, and it seems i'm stuck. I don't have any items at all, and i've explored this much (Jesus Christ, this was hard):

Have you checked both file sizes?

Headered ROM should be 3073, and the patch should be 640.  Then try patching / renaming.

There's a small room not too far from the start of the game where you walk on water.  Try exploring that room some more.


I have:

1 E-tank
14 Missiles
bombs
morph ball
charge beam
evasion



Every path i take is a dead end.  I need to find supers or PB's.  Anyone have a hint for me?

I got two missile packs in addition to the morph ball but now I am stuck.  Cripes is this hard from an exploration standpoint.  Beautiful, but hard.

Some comments on what I've seen posted here so far:
1) Some people have downloaded the IPS, had their browser tell them it's fully downloaded, but have had it not download all the way.  Patch is around 640kb, not 320.  Make sure you have the full thing.
2) If you have the full patch and are trying/failing to apply with Lunar IPS, keep in mind that (and I'm only guessing here) there is a chance the data is "truncated" because you may need to expand your ROM and then apply the patch . . . The hack *does* have some extra banks and just using the patch may leave some patchers/emulators confused as to why you don't have a full bank at the end.  Soft patching should be fine with this though.
3) Think you're hopelessly trapped in an area?  Try going through different paths.  Each and every time I was sure the level design had trapped me, I found a way out.  If you find yourself lacking something you need to continue, you probably need to blast more walls/ceilings/floors.  Keep your eyes open.  Things are well hidden.

As for a freeze/crash in the escape sequence... I've never experienced it personally.  Apparently it's there though.  PM me where/how you got the crash.  If it's anything to do with any of my coding (probably would be, as I handled most of the asm changes throughout the escape), I'll see about releasing a patch *for* the patch to fix the problem.

I've personally beat Eris 5 times. There was only one game breaking glitch which got fixed, and I can't spill it as it was near the end of the game.

The game is very beatable.Unless you have proof to show us your stuck go back to playing
